Mr. Michael Wagner, Maestro Gianni Savelli, Artistic Director of The Gianni Savelli Opera Theatre, and I wish to congratulate you on your wonderful web site: www.bocellionline.com We admire and respect all of the work you have put into this fine location and your pictures are outstanding. (Most of which we have not seen before.) Because of admirers like you and the millions of fans, internationally that Mr. Bocelli has, his "star" continues to rise ever higher, (while certain 'darlings of the opera world must accept their 'setting ' star status.) Mr. Savelli and I had an appointment with Mr. Bocelli, Carlo Benini and several other gentlemen traveling with the entourage, May 16 at their hotel in Beverly Hills, CA where Mr. Bocelli was staying while performing for President Clinton at the Democratic fundraiser and taping Jay Leno's 'Tonight Show'. Mr. Bocelli came down to our meeting in the cocktail lounge in jeans, T shirt and sandels. He was very casual, shy, and quiet, letting Maestro Savelli and his conductor do most of the talking. We were quite impressed by Bocelli's friendleness and demeanor. He invited Mr. Savelli who spent 25 years performing on the major opera stages in Europe including La Scala and with 'The Giants of opera' such as Callas, Tito Gobbi, etc. (Maestro Savelli is a Master of Bel Canto and Voice Builder) to visit him in Italy in July. Mr. Savelli plans meeting the wonderful soprano Guiping Deng who is becoming an international opera sensation in Via Reggio, Italy, direct from her Russian appearance in Madama Butterfly, before she returns to her home in Boston.. Again, Mr. Wagner, our congratulations on a fine web site for this wonderful man, Andrea Bocelli.
