I just finished reading The Birth of Venus by Sarah Dunant. I really enjoyed it as I love historical novels. It takes place in 15th century Florence, Italy. Lots and lots of detail about Renaissance Italy. It must be something similar to Artemisia, Willma. It is the story of an gifted girl and follows her from childhood to her death. Really thought provoking and powerful novel. Wouldn't I love to go to Florence and spend a lot time browsing through those Museums, etc. I think I would just love to go to Italy period!! -----woodsie-----

Sounds like a good book. I'm going to check it out. I also love historical fiction. It makes the history go done easy and facts seem to stick in the brain when associated with memorable characters. I have also read Galileo's Daughter which is of the same period.
