"The Girl With The Pearl Earing" by Tracy Chevalier is the story of the girl in the famous painting by Jan Vermeer. I found it to be a little jewel of a book, simply and yet beautifully written and so evocative of the atmosphere of 16th century Netherlands that I almost felt as if I had been there. It is unbelievably sexy without a crude word or action, and so haunting and poignant at the end that it left me breathless. _________________ "Where are we REALLY going? Always home." |
