I just had to post this - I'm going to my very first-ever live opera performance this weekend! :) It is Tosca done by the Stanislavsky Opera Company. They were here 2 years ago with La Boheme, and had rave reviews, so I'm really looking forward to it!

I live in a relatively small city, so we don't have our own opera company, and usually only get one a year on tour. I'm so excited that I'm finally able to go this year!

Happy day,
Echo bouncy

PS - Melodie, sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place!

Something new, new & new Echo! This deserves a special treat outfit for SURE!

What an exciting experience for you! I've never been to an opera either. I must get my dear friend Christine in here as soon as she can. She llllloves opera's and would be so excited for you. She gets to them frequently in Chicago and just had another one this last Sunday and even got to go back stage. She has the neatest stories up her sleeves at all times... you would love her! When I talk with her I'll ask her to zip in here and she'll share in your excitement.

Have a greattt time Echo!!

As for your wardrobe confusion.... here's a little tiddly bit that will make you smile:

Veni, Vidi, VISA: I came, I saw, I did a little shopping.

Pick out something bellaaaaaa! lolllll

I´m so happy for Echo. Tosca is a perfect first opera to attend to. Mine was too if I remember right Tosca with Salvatore Fisichella as Mario Cavaradossi. That opera lit the light in me and after that very first Tosca I´ve been hooked.

Oh I love that!!!! ROFLOL!!!!!!!! bouncy

Our weather is finally beginning to turn chilly, (I live in South Carolina) so I might need a new dress and maybe a nice shawl too! Good idea!

Kenzu - yes, I love Andrea's Tosca and will be reviewing it thoroughly before Friday night. La Boheme was the first full opera I listened too, and I have a huge soft spot for that one. But I love Tosca as well, so I'm really excited at this opportunity!

I'll be sure to post my review after!

Hugs,
Echo bouncy

PS - Signora, that is so funny - I have a friend name Christine who is an opera buff also, and who used to go to the opera in San Francisco all the time - what a coincidence! angel

Spoken like a true woman there, Echo! brava! baci baci!

Absolutely! At any given moment, 365 days a year, we CAN and WILL come up with a darn good valid reason toooo BUY A NEW DRESS (and shawl!)

pssstttt don't forget the newwww shoe's, toooo! eheheh!

As for our Christine's - son of a gun! How odd is that? Mine cooks INCREDIBLE homemade pasta, Echo? Does yours too? LOL!!!

I do so hope your Christine has made it to Mona Lisa's (an awesome Italian restaurant in North Beach in S.F.). If not, please give her that name. Mona Lisa. 353 Columbus Ave., San Francisco. Maurizio is the owner. It's just the most wonderful food & the employee's are precious. They are all from Italy - darling, darling people. It's the only Italian place my husband (from Rome) will eat at the last few years.

Cheers to your opera, our Christine's, and your NEW dress, shawl AND shoe's!!

Ciao, Echo!
I'm Sandi's Christine, and I'm so excited for you, too! I'm actually relatively new to opera, got hooked through Andrea, of course, and in fact in two years my son and I are going to Italy when he graduates highschool! I'm HOPING, ok...praying, to see Andrea at Torre del Lago that summer...fingers crossed!! Tosca is a WONDERFUL, romantic, passionate opera!! You will love it! I have season tickets for the Lyric in Chicago, and in February will get to see Tosca with Samuel Ramey as Scarpia, (he is a very famous baritone/bass), and *Trumpet Blast* the soprano who RECORDED it with Andrea, Fiorenza Cedolins!!!! The best part is, I know a chorus member who is performing in that one, and she has already kindly offered to take me backstage, so maybe I will get their autographs? Too cool! May I suggest, if you become hooked, to go to Barnes and Noble on line, click on B&N; University, and check out the "Overature to the Opera" class? It's FREE, you just need the CD and book, and it's a WONDERFUL beginner's class. I'm taking it right now for the THIRD time!! LOL!!! It's a lot of material to get through one time, and since it's free, what the heck?!? The teacher, Glen, is awesome, and I have learned a lot!! The class has actually spawned an opera study group on Yahoo, also free, for beginners, and fun!! Group "Mom", Barbara is so cool, we have a lot of fun! Let me know if you're interested, I'll hook you up! I hope you have the BEST time, this weekend, please let me know your thoughts. My son and I are going to see Il Trovatore this weekend in our home town of Milwaukee...should be good! I have another friend who sings in that chorus, AND, this is soooo funny, my "FIRST LOVE" is a violist in the orchestra!!! Should be a very interesting weekend!!! Haven't seen him in 14 years, and, Honey, I've aged WELL!!!!...just ask SI!!! Hahahahaha!
Nice to meet you, Echo!
Ciao,
-Christine
