... Deemed to be the first ever 'opera boy band', Il Divo have it all; talent that even Simon Cowell is in awe of, looks to kill and a debut single that is tipped to be huge.
http://www.ildivo.com/site.php
On November 1st their first record will be released and can be pre-ordered from here:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00061WY0C/qid%3D1098209773/026-1271976-0766825
From the Label:
Il Divo are four exceptional young men with formally trained voices who take popular songs, old and new, to another level where the historic rift between pop and classical music is finally healed. The band were formed after a worldwide search which took more than two years. Consisting of an American, Frenchman, Spaniard and a Swiss, Il Divo spent the first half of 2004 in London rehearsing and recording. Some of their songs will be familiar like "Nella Fantasia" (based on Gabriel's Oboe from Ennio Morricone's penned score of The Mission) and a unique and powerful version of Toni Braxton's "Unbreak My Heart". The four principles share the lead throughout, combining to deliver choruses whose awesome power is matched by their tonal delicacy. Passion and restraint they show to be an irresistible aphrodisiac. Reflecting the multi-national character of the group, the songs are not all sung in English but drift between Spanish, English and Italian. However they are worded, all use the emotional Esperanto of love.

I've got it on in this very moment, Nellie..... I went to the link you posted, then I could not resist and had to go back to the video of it again. How I adore that video and I still can't get over how the one guy (in this moment forget his name) sounds identical to Miguel Bose for about 6 seconds. This song (and video) are so beautiful. Extremely so. I will have to get this one day. I like it so much. I think Toni Braxton herself would be proud of their version. Speaking of her, I haven't heard anything about her in what seems life forever.
Thanks again for sharing this fantastic link a few weeks back, Nellie. Btw - if you click on your first link now
http://www.ildivo.com/site.php
...... I notice they are offering a competion to be "Wined and Dined by Il Divo". I don't remember that offer (lol) before. When I click on it though, nothing happens. Guess it was not in the cards for me to be wined and dined by them... sigh sigh! So..... you go for it and see if you have any better luck! :slick
Also, check on the "News" link when you get a chance. What a classic photo! Love it! I am thinking that might be a newer photo on the site? I don't remember it last time and I surely would not have forgotten it. There's also a forum too - you might have fun in there, si si!! I haven't checked it out, just "saw it" listed. _________________ Don't marry the man you can live with... marry the man you can't live without ~ |

Nice to have you back, Sandi! I've already sent my entry for the "date" with the guys (or it was for a different performer???) ... and I've been playing their CD all day long for 3 days (sorry, but the "Andrea" CD never arrived) and I've been living in a state of ecstasy since then. Can you believe that I've even found myself shedding tears? I knew this CD was going to be a winner and to prove that, look at this:
http://uk.movies.yahoo.com/music/charts/75artalbnd.html
Wait to hear "My Way" in Spanish... The song "Mama" is absolutely beautiful. Sandi, you have to get this CD and have your kids to listen to it. I registered to the Forum the first day and sent a "hello" to our own David. Here is another link to a photo of them celebrating their success:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/music/3990891.stm
Hope they will go on tour soon. I'll be there guys _________________ "Canto alla vita alla sua bellezza ad ogni sua

ahahaaa!! Soooo many international musical men! Sooooo much confusion. Soooooo little time for all of them! ha! Love it Nellie! A girl after my own heart! Sometimes Angelo walks around mumbling, "don't forget about meee, Amore!" (lollllll)
Goodness gracious - they are #1 this week in the UK! Well, you know, I am not surprised at all. Thanks to you bringing them back up which I read last night, I had their site up & running with the Regresa a Mi video playing (over & over I might add) - while ehmmm... Angelo was making the dinner as a treat, like any good husband should do now & then (eheheh!) and I couldn't stop smiling. I just love those guys (and that video!)
I have a surprise for you now! I just went to their site again now and you have to get back there and click on "music" again. Nellie there is a new message from them as of today. I won't tell you what it says but I'll share the ending........"kissesssssssssss from Carlo". Oh Oh! Si, am extending my little neck out to gather them up! Go run & do the same Nellie. Life is short! Ah Carlo... yes, he is the one who sounds like Luis Miguel. mamma mia, autio!
As for the tears, oh gulps si lo so. The clip I am able to hear of mamma since the first visit to their site.. well, no words. kills me right off. I just put it back on and there goes the throat gulps again. killer song. down right killer song. Nellie, i cat imagine for you. a hug to you, Nellie. that song is too much. yes, I need this disc. It's been an expensive month here but I am going to get it as soon as I can for SURE. Will think of you and this thread.
Can you believe this news - "The quartet achieved platinum status in just one week, selling 130,000 copies of their self-titled debut release." (from your 2nd link.)
Kenzu.... thats so neat you enjoy them too! I know you prefer opera but thats wonderful that you can also enjoy these other types of songs too. You know my hat is always off to you, bello!

Actually, I like quite numerous types of music...I´ve learned to like jazz recently. BTW we are going on thursday to listen Pietro Mascagni´s Messa di Gloria. Its amazing how seldom you hear good voices in popmusic nowadays. What they do they look good move great and when they open up their mouth not so nice sounds come out of their mouths. In my opinion managers should concentrate more on voice production of their customers it would benefit the whole industry. There are some exceptions too
Sandi biiiiig hug to you my dear from Finland _________________ "Ex nihilo nihil fit" |

ahahaha... you "have learned to like Jazz recently"..... bless YOU! That made me grin! Bello, I am still in the process of learning to like opera - hahahhaa - bless all of us! LoL! We are all trying to stretch our limits the best we can - llllove it! It makes me laugh and feel happy!
I really like the smooth jazz - that real seductive night time kind of smooth jazz music. I read a forum years ago where the biggest fights would take place on it, due to the jazz fans saying smooth jazz is NOT jazz and oh mamma mia, the two sides would get in THEEE biggest fights over whether it "was" jazz or "not". I used to laugh. The passion in that forum was UNreal. ahahahaha!!
I'll tell you Kenneth, it is tooo magical (especially in winter) to be in San Francisco walking around at night time when on every few corners you will hear someone playing the saxaphone or trumpet, with those melty night time smooth jazz sounds floating all around. The light fog - those sounds - the beautiful Christmas decorations everywhere. Just beautiful! I can not hear that kind of music without mentally drifting to Angelo and I walking in San Francisco at night in winter. We spent out honeymoon there (in Dec 1998) and several of our anniversary's there for the weekend--- so the icing on the cake is - that music takes me/us not only to S.F. in winter - but also to the sweet memories of our wedding and anniversary's. Love how music does that to us all. It always takes us somewhere.
Angelo also likes the traditional day time jazz (thats what I call it, for lack of a better word). There are soooo many types of jazz - I just wrap it all up with day time jazz and night time jazz. Much easier for me. lol!
Have a great time on Thursday! Mamma mia Kenneth, you and E could write a book on all of your opera/concert/etc outtings. aha hhahaa! I've been to ONE! How funny is that, bello? poor, poor me! :roll eyes lolol!
Have a romantic, beautifulllll Thursday night!
XO, smiles and waves from my living room! Is a bit chilly this morning.... I could use a biiiiiig bear hug, grazie!! eheh!!! _________________ Don't marry the man you can live with... marry the man you can't live without ~ |

Oh Sandi, that was beatiful, I believe that the smooth jazz you mean swing/jazz like Benny Goodman used to play with his orchestra, Ella Fitzgelrald singing and Lois Armstrong and his band playing is also magical. There are so many different types of jazz up to proggressive jazz where I can´t find the red line to grab to to me its all improvisation. Melodic type of jazz is my type _________________ "Ex nihilo nihil fit" |
