Author: Ross King

Pre-Renaisssance and Renaissance Italy - its art and architecture - are my passion. Both of these books deal in depth and with incredible detail and research the story of the Sistine Chapel and the dome of the Santa Maria dei Fiori di Firenze (Il Duomo). But they contain more than the story of these two incredible achievements, they contain the stories of the lives of these two artists, the cast of charaters surrounding them, the intrigues of that time in history, and their struggles to create them. Anyone who loves Italy and its many artistic achievements will find these books both fascinating and educational. They bring 'life' and 'alive' to these two wonders.

:D Hi, Marianne: I have read "B. Dome" and am currently reading "Michaelangelo and the Pope's Ceiling" now. They are so great. They both read almost as if they were novels...not history. Jean

Just returned from 18 days in Italy and had read both these books.just before for my trip. If you are going to Florence (Firenza) or Rome these are two great books to read before your trip. There are parts of Brunelleschi's Dome that are a little technical but it is still a captivating historical tale.

Managed to spell Brunelleschi but the correct Italian spelling for Florence is Firenze not Firenza.
