I find myself using the word "magic" a lot when talking about Andrea but what can I say--it fits! :slick My 8th concert experience, Sunday night at the Continental Arena in East Rutherford, NJ involved quite a few last minute happenings before the MAGIC occurred. The first was my making the trip at all! I wasn't exactly keeping it a secret when the tour was announced how unhappy I was that they were once again keeping Andrea exclusively on the east coast. "What about the rest of US?" I kept whining. Then I read reports on Monday 4/4 about the first concert, in Philadelphia--so many NEW songs! And...NESSUN DORMA?! For real? I had only wanted to hear that in person like FOREVER! I was already going to be on vacation from work anyway. Can it happen? On Wednesday, 4/6, thanks to some encouragement from a BoPal I decided to GO FOR IT and made my travel arrangements. I flew into New Jersey on Saturday, 4/9. Sunday, 4/10 was THE DAY! I had arranged to meet my BoPal at the will call window. She'd purchased the ticket for me and needed to be the one to pick it up. My hotel was across the street from the arena. I got there at about 5:40pm. BoPal didn't arrive until 7:15! Not her fault but boy! Talk about "last minute". The concert was scheduled to start at 7:30. I finally had my ticket in hand and found my seat. It was my seat for about 2 seconds. This was an upper level seat in the second row which gave me a view of the barriers that divided the section OR I could watch the concert through plexiglas all night. As if! I got right back up and told the usher I needed a better seat. The supervisor says, "this is the best we can do" and gives me a ticket for section 6 on the FLOOR LEVEL! :slick More "last minute magic" to be sure! And then, of course, the ULTIMATE MAGIC began. It's really incredible how Andrea is better EVERY time I see him but it is the ABsolute truth! He was very relaxed. Plenty of easy, KILLER smiles all night long. And THE VOICE--OMG! Truly the best I'd ever heard him in concert. So many new songs, too. And NESSUN DORMA!!! That song alone was worth the whole trip. "My Way" was the strongest I'd ever heard him sing it. Beeeg smiles when that one was over. It was great to hear Andrea TALK so much, too. The most I'd ever heard him say before in concert was small "thank yous". He did a couple of song intros and gave individual thanks to all involved with the show (soprano, choir, etc.). He also said big "thank yous" during the evening a lot. This was very nearly how I would've scripted a concert if given the chance--it was that perfect. New Jersey's nickname is "The Garden State". I'll always think of it as "The Magic State". |

Thanks for the great report! I would have been a nervous wreck waiting for the ticket. _________________ Where there's life, there's hope |
