Did anyone else in England listen to Andrea’s interview on Capital Gold last week? My husband has the station on where he works and he told me that he had heard all week that Andrea was giving “one of his only two interviews this year”(?) on the Alec Belfield show on Thursday night. The interview was advertised as being on between 10pm and 11pm so I tuned in at 9.50 and waited. I have never listened to Capital Gold before – and what an inane load of drivel it is! In the first ½ hour Alex played only 3 records, the rest of the time being taken up with advertising jingles, manic laughing and banter and constant plugs for the coming interview. Finally at about 11.10pm just as I was about to give up and go to bed, Andrea was finally introduced with Time to Say Goodbye. What a change in the interviewer! From being a schizophrenic megalomaniac Alex immediately turned into a grovelling Uriah Heap-type sycophant, totally overawed by being in the presence of such a “global superstar.” I must say the interview didn’t really stretch Andrea. He was his usual professional self, pleasant, self-effacing and charmingly hr occasionally stumbled over his English words. You could almost see his smile. He talked about his latest CD, his tours and his hope that he will soon be able to have a holiday as it was important to him to be able to spend time with his two sons. He was asked if he was from a musical family and he said no, his family sold agricultural machinery. He said he was still unsure of his voice to the point the he was more afraid singing before those he knew were knowledgeable about music than before big crowds of fans. He said his tours were a problem because he didn’t like flying as “it was too high up.” The interviewer gushed and played one or two songs from Amore. My husband said “you can’t deny he has a good voice”. After about 20 minutes Andrea was thanked and he departed. I bet Alex doesn’t play another Andrea Bocelli record all year

So ..... did anyone else hear it?
