1. Does anyone know about where to stay in Torre del Lago or Viareggio? or another town perhaps ? Lucca ? Looking for a hotel with air conditioning. Any suggestions on where to stay would be appreciated ?
2. Transportation. We won't have a car. Will take your suggestions on this also.
thank you in advance for any information you might be able to help us with. |

I stayed in Lucca but we did have a car to travel to Torre del Lago which is about 45 mins away. The hotel Piccola Puccini was very reasonable and we were made most welcome by Paola....however there was no air conditioning BUT the rooms did have a ceiling fan which was sufficient.
If you are not hiring a car then your best bet will probably be to stay in Torre and I am sure Tina will get back to you with regards accn as she has stayed in both hotels. It is a quiet place but during the opera season it will be buzzing!!
Must add that Lucca is a charming, medieval town and well worth a visit if you can.....
Viareggio has many hotels along the sea front but I think they are quite expensive and you will need transport to get to Torre. I searched the internet for the hotel we stayed in and I certainly wasn't disappointed
As I said eralier I am sure Tina will give you some sound advice once she has bounced back down to earth after the concert in Birmingham tonight  _________________ Andrea is Life, the rest is mere detail |

8) :) Thank you Lorna. We thought about staying in Lucca... I've been in that quaint little walled city and loved it. I understand it gets pretty crowded in the summer there as well.
I would consider taking the train from Lucca to Viareggio... but, I don't know how late they run.... or how far Viareggio is from Torre del Lago. We would still need transportation from the train station to the lake and vice versa.
Thank you for your help. |

I cannot say for definite how far Viareggio is from TDL but it is quite close....probably no more than 20 mins on the train....(if that). I remember going through Viareggio and within a very short time we were back in TDL :D
We did get a train from Lucca to Florence and that was 'no problem'. The train station is outside the Lucca walls and is about 15 mins walking time.....at least they ran on time which, is more than I can say for the UK ones
You could get a taxi to and fro the station in TDL but obviously you would need to check the timetables first...happy holidays DueBaci  _________________ Andrea is Life, the rest is mere detail |

Yes, I've taken the train from Lucca to Florence and back... but, the last train back to Lucca was at 21:15 . I know Viareggio is in the other direction...never the less...I think train travel back to Lucca after a perfomance might not be an option. Maybe I should think about renting a car... would you know how the parking situation is in Torre del Lago ?
thank you for your holiday wishes :) ... but, what holiday might that be :?: |

I thought this was relevant to 'a holiday' as well as seeing Andrea appearing in Tosca next July.....have I got it wrong DueBaci
The parking was fine when we visited TDL as the opera season had just finished and we parked in the centre square but I doubt if this would be an option during the busy time...however there are car parks too!! If you saw Tina's piccies of her and Andrea then you would have seen that they met in one of the car parks (lucky girl) So I don't think you would have a problem there  and it is very close to the square.....
When did you visit Lucca? _________________ Andrea is Life, the rest is mere detail |

Oh yes ! I do remember seeing pics of Tina in the parking lot at Torre del lago. Nice pics. Lucky gal.
re; A Holiday. Oh ! OK. No ..you didn't get it wrong. I just got confused... and thought I should be celebrating something yesterday.
Holiday meaning "special day" ...... and you meant "Holiday" as in vacation... I think. Semantics.
I just got back from Lucca last Saturday.... I didn't want to come home. |

Where did you stay in Lucca?
I loved it there too, our hotel was close to St Michael's square and very near to the Puccini statue (probably 20 yrds away)....aaaah memories.
I am sure Tina will sort you out Duebaci :D _________________ Andrea is Life, the rest is mere detail |

Thank you Lorna. Tina and I connected and she offered some great suggestions.
re: Lucca... we stayed very near the fountain in Lucca. The one that gives fresh spring water... where everyone comes to fill up their water bottles. |
