Ok, it's early in the morning here, but here's my attempt:

''With Corelli goes a world full of emotions and feelings''. Thus Andrea Bocelli remembers Franco Corelli, the tenor who passed away yesterday in Milan, his teacher. '' My activity as a singer -explains Bocelli- depends solely of the voice of Corelli. If I hadn't been overwhelmed by the voice of Corelli since when I was a child I wouldn't have been a singer. For it is the biggest voice lent to the service of a heart that was born for song''. According to Bocelli, Corelli was '' a point of reference, it has always been. When I had some doubts, I called him by telephone and he advised me. In the days of last Easter, I went to visit him in hospital. A sad memory because he was very bad, but I am however pleased to have gone there, testifying to them the sense of the immense gratitude and of friendship and esteem that I have for him''. Bocelli will be tomorrow at the funeral of the tenor: '' I Want to accompany him in this last earthly journey -he says- I will, seen the fact that he accompanies me always in my life, with his cd's, on journeys, in the car and at home''

Thanks for posting the article. I figured Bocelli would be going to Franco Corelli's funeral. My husband would be going, too, if we were in Italy now.

I posted my translation on a thread below entitled "Another Interview with Andrea on Corelli" but here it is again:

Rome, Oct. 30. "With Corelli has left a world full of emotions and feelings." Andrea Bocelli thus remembers Franco Corelli, the tenor who died yesterday in Milan, and who was his maestro. "My becoming a singer," explained Bocelli, "resulted solely from the voice of Corelli. If I had not been transfixed by the voice of Corelli from when I was a child, I would not have become a singer. For me, he was the greatest voice, working in the service of a heart born through song." According to Bocelli, Corelli was "a point of reference, he was always there [for me]. When I had doubts, I called him on the telephone and he advised me. Last Easter, I went to see him in the hospital. A sad memory because he was so ill, however, I am content that I went there to show to him my sense of immense gratitude and the friendship and esteem that I have for him." Bocelli will be tomorrow at the funeral of the tenor. "I want to accompany him in this last earthly voyage--I will be seen there--as he accompanies me always in my life, with his discs, in traveling, in the car and at home."

According to reports on the web and news articles at the time that Corelli went into the hospital, many people tried to visit him there and were turned away. The fact that Andrea was admitted to see him is a final proof of their very close relationship.
