Hi Rita,
I love Bath and Body Works. It has lots of great lotions and scrubs for your body. They are unusual and smell great. Also have you ever shopped on the internet, you can order things from everywhere. Last year I ordered a cognac from a store in France and suprised my father, he loved it. I also ordered French chocolates from a chocolatier in Paris that I saw on the Food Network channel my mother loved them. All I did was a search in yahoo for french cognacs and clicked on the website that was foreign, most of them have english translations.
happy shopping! :D |

My most unusal gift ever - My grandmother's china was beautiful but only a few pieces remained. I took them to a jeweler who had a tiny, high speed
saw. She cut out the floral pattern along the edges and centers of the plates and made little bouquets and rosettes. These she turned into eighteen pins or brooches which I gave to all the women in my family. When the boxes were opened, everyone said - Oh, this looks just like Nanna's china. When I said - that IS Nanna's china, they were all flabberghasted! |

That was me. I have to take credit for that idea! _________________ Although, in his life, he was often called the imbecile from Illinois, history has proven otherwise. |

Hello Rita ~~
You have this message in the "Book Club" section, but I'm assuming that you're not asking for book gift suggestions only, right? Maybe we should move it over to Ruetro Libera (sp?)
I do very little Christmas gift-exchanging, but am finding the presents I do give are, like Lisa, being acquired more & more on the computer. Both by shopping online and make things offline.
This year the only item my mother has requested is a personlized calendar, the kind with family pictures printed on. With all the different software, special papers & kits available in so many stores today, the possibilities for personalized gifts are endless. Magnets, t-shirt transfers, calendars, scrapbook pages, etc. Maybe not so unusual or creative anymore, but these items might work for someone on your list.
And you can find anything at all on internet shopping. This becomes a matter of self-control with your credit card rather than finding a suitable gift. Just think about what their interests are, no matter how obscure, do a search and I promise you'll have TOO much to choose from. I had great luck with eBay last year, do a search on their site. My mom plays the bassoon so she received several cute things related to that. Then I couldn't resist buying my own Christmas presents.....chow chow dog figurines, banner, pictures, etc, all found at eBay! And for all I bought, there was never any "bidding" going on so I got the items as if from a store, reasonable prices actually. For my husband whom already has everything, I shop at Amazon. Searching their music, DVDs, and music DVDs, I can generally come up with some treasures (and a few misses) to get a winning smile from my Michael.
The Sharper Image website is worth a look too. Some items that may not have occured to you but will be just the "right thing". And, one last suggestion...as Dottie and MFfan told you in another topic, you just can't go wrong with Mario Frangoulis' CD (or DVD) "Sometimes I Dream". We gave this as gift to a few relatives last year and received lots of praise in return. Praise and compliments -- now THAT'S my favorite Christmas present, LOL!!
Good Luck! 25 days to go ~~ Becky |
