| Anyone familiar with "Amici forever" ? I heard them on The Good Morning Show a couple weeks ago and I sent for their cd. They are 5 young classical singers. Really enjoyable!! Probably everyone knows them but me. I am usually behind the times. |

| No, you're not, Woodsie...their GMA appearance was the first I'd heard of them, too. I wasn't that crazy about the women, although I'm sure they're very good...goes back to that soprano thing, I guess. : |

Hi Woodsie
I am not that familiar with 'Amicis Forever', however I bought their cd in November along with Pav's ti adoro (special offer if you bought both) and I love them!! I think Pav's wins just by a 'whisker' though... but they are both great!
Enjoy amica :D _________________ Andrea is Life, the rest is mere detail |

Ciao Lorna.... I got the new Pav cd for Christmas too and I love it to pieces. Do you have a favorite song? Mine seems to still be Il Canto (not to take anything away from any other song though). The second Il Canto starts though.... my pulse starts racing
Woodsie... my husband and I have never heard of Amici Forever... so you are one step ahead of us... brava!! Oh, I wish I could hear them right now. Do you know what part of Italy they are from? _________________ Don't marry the man you can live with... marry the man you can't live without ~ |

Amici Forever consists of 3 Brits, 1 Kiwi and 1 South African. Their debut album The Opera Band, recently launched in the USA, is currently a major hit in Europe. The band is made up of:-
Nick Garrett - England (Bass Baritone)
Jo Appleby - England (Soprano)
David Habbin - England (Tenor)
Tsakene Valentine - South Africa (Soprano)
Geoff Sewell - New Zealand (Tenor)
They are five good looking, clean-cut singers who have given opera and pop favourites a new spin. Purists may be offended, but if their thoroughly pleasant versions of The Pearl Fishers, Nessum Dorma et al opens more minds then all the better.
I first heard them when they supported Shirley Bassey on her UK tour last year. I recommend a listen. _________________ All people smile in the same language |

Well, that sounds like a great group for me! I love music.... and I adore it when different styles are mixed to create a fresh new sound. I don't ever look at music in a techincal way, nor would I ever care to. I'd rather be shot first. If a song makes my blood rush or causes me to run and kiss my husband... then yep, thats a song for me! Purists.... uffa.... eh eh eh. I prefer to live, dance and enjoy! :P
I'll zip over to itunes and see if I can get lucky to hear something of theirs. Thanks SO much for the info! Fun, fun, fun! Grazie mille!! _________________ Don't marry the man you can live with... marry the man you can't live without ~ |

Ok amici ~ back from itunes... even downloaded the latest version.
It's so hard with only 30 seconds of listening....but I really like the sound of "Prayer In the Night" and "Canto Alla Vita". It's not that I didn't like the others.. just didn't get the opportunity to really get the full feel of the other songs. Prayer In the Night sounds very dramatic though and I liked ittttttt alot. I adore Canto Alla Vita too....I can put that song on repeat for an hour - from Josh Groban's disc. Shivers!
Thank you again both Woodsie & Lorna for bringing this group to our attention - and to MichaelS for all the low down on them. Baci, amici!! :D _________________ Don't marry the man you can live with... marry the man you can't live without ~ |

Ok, I'll have to go give them a listening to...
I love "Canto Alla Vita", too - for the beat and sound and all...but for lyrics on a Josh Groban song, my favorite will always be "Home to Stay". |

ah geeeeez.... now I have to go get that disc out and put it on. I've been playing musical SONGS this entire day long - Everything from Bocelli to Italian hip hop and many other things inbetween. My speakers are getting dizzy! Off to get Josh and throw him in. My favorites are the Italian songs though I have to admit. I do so love Home to Stay though, but it kills me anymore. I sob too hard : _________________ Don't marry the man you can live with... marry the man you can't live without ~ |

I know exactly what you mean...it's kind of like watching your favorite sad movie over and over - you know you're going to lose it, but you almost NEED to watch it in order to get to that place. :
Time for me to get some help? Paging Willma!! |

Yes Melodie, I agree Home to Stay - "Reach out to me, Call out my name, And I will bring you back again, Today" - is very emotive.
Give Amici a listen (sopranos and all), I'm sure you won't be disappointed. I will see them perform in Glasgow on June 1. _________________ All people smile in the same language |
