Hi Bocelli Fans,

just wanted to spread the word about another great opera singer, Renée Fleming. If you love Andrea, I strongly recommend Renee's music as well because she has one of the most beautiful voices I’ve ever heard. Recently she released her new album "By Request" . If you haven’t heard any of her music, my personal favorite is her signature aria, 'Song to the Moon’. I also found out that there are currently limited editions of her signed Cds that are being auctioned on Ebay for a limited time as part of an exclusive deal from Universal. I personally love this CD, which has a compilations of her best stuff yet. For more info, you can go check out the website at www.universalmusicstore.com. I'm a huge fan of hers so I want to share her with all of you. Goodluck, bidding ends soon! [/u] :P

Yes I know, we have heard her :D . Me and my wife have cd or two and she really posses a most beautiful soprano. Here in Finland not long time ago they showed a master course of hers in TV held if I remember correctly either in France or in Austria? She is also a good pedagog, how she handled those music students and their way to express themselves. She is very popular among opera houses and a wanted quest allover the worlds opera houses.

Ciao Classicchik ~

Thanks for that info. I have read her name here and there in posts, but to be honest, I never knew who she was exactly - meaning, I didn't even know she was a soprano  (please don't laugh)...eh eh! It's good to share names and info....so, thanks! Tomorrow of Friday I will see if they have that song "Song To the Moon" on itunes. Do you like Anna Maria Martinez as well? She is the only soprano I am familiar with (only once in concert though & on the SOL video, mind you)...but she left a mark on me for the rest of my days. I thought she was hauntingly beautiful in every which way. Have you been lucky enough to see your Rene sing in an opera yet? Is she from Europe? I'll have to look her up, as I certainly have seen her name many times now.

Do you enjoy Andrea as the rest of us in here do? It's good to share names and thoughts....thanks for popping in! I hope you get a signed cd of Rene's. Come back soon & let us know!

Kenzu.......ciao caro ~ you must tell me... did you and your wife receive tickets for Norma yet, as you were hoping to? Is this an opera? And when do you have your big night in Helsinki to see Turandot? I've been so happy for you about that. Let me know when you can  Ciao caro mio...bel Giovedi a te

No, not yet. We are still waiting to get those tickets to Norma. Turandot will take place in the end of February so this winter there is much to wait for and of course the spring. Now we got our tickets to Rome Italy and we got a hotel near the spanish stairs. I can´t wait to see the magnicficient Rome that Romulus and Remus gave birth to thousands of years ago

Signora Innamorata.....avere un giorno piacevole..... :D :D :D

I am also a big fan of the American soprano Renee Fleming. Last year she joined Bryn Terfel (recently duetted with AB "The Pearl Fishers) to produce a CD which superbly demonstrates their luscious voices whether in their solos or in tandem. Both have steered their repertoire choices away from the obviously operatic and focused on music more of their time. I revelled in the sensual beauty and heightened emotion that great singing should never fail to provide. She is definitely worth a listen.

Oh Kenzu...I am *thrilled* for the two of you! You are on your way to Heaven, I assure you! When are you going to Rome? How long will you get to stay? Are you going to any other cities? Is this your first time to Italy or just your first time to Rome? Can I go, tooooo? eheheh!

Kensu, Kenzu, Kenzu...sweet kisses to the both of you. I am ecstatic, caro! A great big hug to you! I was so happy for you about your upcoming opera - but now...ROME? Smiles on top of smiles! Those Spanish Steps are quite romantic, especially at night time. Enjoy every delightful moment with your wife! Make sure when you are in Rome, you have the dish called "Penne alla vodka"....the sauce is fantastic, caro. It's just a simple pasta dish with the most incredible sause. Those are my favorite dishes - simple and incredible...and it IS! Yum! Keep me posted - I'm thrilled for you, caro. Xo Xo to you both!

I love Renee'! Within three months I seen Renee' in two operas and two concerts. She was great in everyone. I'll be seeing her in LaTraviata and Rusalka at the MET this spring.
I have all her CDs but not all her opera CDs. I'm working on it though.

Cara mia Signora Innamorata, we arrive to Rome 1st April and will be at the premises for three nights. Would loved to stay for whole week but our babies are waiting us at home  . You mentioned a pasta called "Penne alla vodka" is one gradient of it Finlandia vodka? , I´m sure its tasty and I promise to you to try it and will tell you in the first place when arrived home how it was. One of my hobbies is to make nice dishes at home, yesterday I made pasta carbonara as I now its a typical Roman dish. Made it from file bacon some onion little garlic some herbs and cream and with it pecorino romana parmasan.....my family liked it and hoped I´ll make it some other time also.... very tasty dish and quick to make. A perfect food for a winterday :D

This trip is actually our 15th anniversary trip which we planned to make last year but my mothers renewed melanoma and her quick death first postponed and then cancelled our planned anerversary trip : . Now after almost a years sorrow behind I´m sure my mother would love to give us some happiness and joy and she will always travel within my heart.

Sorry cara mia if I´m not answering your questions in chronological order...this is not my first time to Italy It was 1972 when we stayed in Astano just otherside of border in Switzerland in our family fiends house and they were here in Finland in our summer house. We visited Milano few times but I was quite young boy then. This time we will surely get much out of this trip and remember it warmly 8)

Signora Innamorata... Per sempre il suo amico :D

Classicchik ~ Buonasera...glad you hopped back in. Thanks for the link.. I bookmarked it and will click the video's on this weekend. There are many (although I have DSL) but I am too tired tonight to fully comprehend anything, so I shall indulge in that fun tomorrow at some point. What a beauty she is! She has the prettiest eyes and such an approachable face. I read also that she received the Honorary Doctor of Music. Whoa! There's just so many treasures in the world out there - it's overwhelming in a beautiful way, isn't it cara? I'll tell you a secret... I always wished I could be a singer. I think only my husband has known that and now I say it to you. ha! Funny..eh eh. Just one of those secret dreams that fill me up with such desire. Dreams are beautiful that way, si? Do you sing, cara? Or wish you could?

I am laughing because I also wanted to be a physciatrist (that started in 6th grade), again, a singer, always wished I could dance better, and if I were a man, get this - I know I would have been a fighter pilot (OH! siiiiiii) (althought I hate war - so go figure) or yes, again... as a man, a singer as well, along with playing the guitar - not sure what kind of techinical style you call it, but the kind where the guitar sounds hell of sexy....whether it be Santana's style or Spanish romantic mmmmm style - or the sax - ssssmooth jazz style - the kind that makes your back arch.

Opps, sorry to get so off topic. Am listening to my beloved Michele Zarillo and this song always makes me dream. Viva allll the touching singers that bring out one's dreams - whether they be opera singers or rap singers - doesn't matter - Viva them all  Try to look into Ana Maria too... I really think you will like her. She's very special. Oh to sing, to sing.....ahhhhh ~

Have a lovely weekend!

Kenzu ~ Ciao carissimo ~

I am terribly sorry for the loss of your mamma. Ahia - Ouch. I do very well understand your pain. I lost my dad 6+ years ago - a quick death, as well. Bless you for knowing that your mamma would want you to go on your trip and be happy. Mother's always want their children to be happy, you are so right, caro. It is a gift to her for you to do this, she will smile down on you and your wife! xo ~

Angelo drooled (do you capito that word?) over your pasta carbonara with eggs and bacon that you made yesterday. That is one of his favorite dishes and believe me, he misses it...lol! Next time you make that, do you think he could come over and eat with you too? eh eh! I'll eat your left over penna alla vodka...I much prefer that. 8) Angelo also LOVES pecorino romano. I think your house is THE place to be! He wants to know if you have any grappa, too.....eheheh! Oh, the Italian food that man gave up... bless his bello cuore! That is SO wonderful that you like to cook. Sei stupendo....a good husband, a good papa, a cook, a singer - five gold stars to you, Kenzu :D

I wish you could stay for more then 3 days in Rome, but I understand. The babies will miss you so very much. But a three day 2nd honeymoon with your wife will be paradiso, especially in the Eternal City. You will come home soooo happy! And there's a high chance you will come home with another baby, too! hehehee! Buon Anniversario a voi!

I have been to Italy twice too. The first time was in 1979 for 2 full months. We also went into Switzerland (along the boarder) for 3 days. We went all over Italy in a little rental car. Fantastico! The first time I lost my heart in the Amore way was on the island of Anacapri with a boy named Luigi. He was 18 & I was 17 1/2. He worked at the hotel that we stayed in for 10 days. He was one of the pool boys and outside bar attendant and I was one of the pool girls...lol! I cried for months when we left. He sent me a necklace the next Christmas. Si si, Italy is paradiso. We arrived in Milano and then stayed in Milano for 2 days before we returned home. I don't remember much about Milano the 2nd time though as I couldn't stop crying : eheh!

Next time you go to bella Italia... send your precious bimbi to me, I will watch them and you and your wife can go for two full weeks. :P

Counting the days for you, Kenzu. Cin Cinnnnn!! Only 62 days more to wait :D Ciao bello....happy Italian dreaming! Sempre tua amica... sempre.

Mio caro Kenzu ~ ....... un bacio, amico mio ~

I am so sorry for the delay in me answering you back, caro. We lost our internet connection (DSL) Saturday morning and didn't have it working again until Monday....and from Monday on, I have been in 5th gear working on endless projects inside & outside of the home. It is not after Midnight (Wed night here) and I am finally getting the opportunity to answer you. I missed all of you, tanto!

First of all, I have to tell you that Angelo is most impressed - he said if you are serving Brunello di Montalacino then we shall head on the first plane to Finland - to your house - DOMANI (tomorrow). eh eh eh! You won him over 101% with that fine wine...eh eh!

Oh Kenzu, seriously though, wouldn't that just be THE most fun?!! I could imagine us sitting at your lovely table with your sweet family and siiiii, eating your delicious Italian food made with your loving hands, drinking your wonderful wine and laughing, laughing, laughing and sharing so many stories back and forth. Oh, i could get a tear!! Those are the things in life that I hold most precious, caro. A big, big hug to you, Kenzu! At some point though, your wife and I would have to kick you and Angelo away from the dining room table though... you know us women, we would need at least 45 minutes of "girl talk and laughs"... withOUT you men around...eheheh! Oh mamma mia, what a delightful evening that would be, caro. I want to fly subito (immediately!) :D I am laughing Kenzu, as my little head is already thinking-thinking what we could bring the two of you from San Francisco....eheheh!

By the way, caro... I have a fun job for you for when you go to the Piazza di Spagna, ok? When you are "on" the stairs - looking towards the long street "straight ahead of you" - well, walk down that street and on the right hand side (I can't remember how long you walk down exactly, sorry) - but - you can't miss it.... on the right hand side of the street there is a restaraunt called "Cafe Greco". You must go in there and on the wall there are many hand written letters from people in frames. One of those letters is from my Great-Great-Great-Great Uncle (on my mother's side of her family). He is known as the most famous English landscape artist of his time. His name was Joseph Mallard William Turner.

He wrote a beautiful letter to Cafe Greco expressing his appreciation for their wonderful restaraunt, which he frequented often over many years. He loved Italy and spent much time there and had many many meals and endless bella memories in their Cafe Greco restaraunt. He died around 1860, so this letter was written at some point prior to 1860. My parents got to see the letter in 1983, their second trip to Italy at that point. I am not sure why we didn't go there in 1978 when we were there - but perhaps we did go and they were closed that day (I don't remember). That happened to Angelo and I in 1997. We went to the Spanish Steps many times during those 5 weeks, but it was during the month of August and Cafe Greco was closed for the month, which can be typical of places during August. Many of them shut down their business and fly to Finland, you know! ehehehe!!

Anyway caro... it would make me extremely happy if you could see my Great Great Great Great Uncle's letter - the letter I have never even seen. You can read it and laugh and say, "wow, I know his niece"....LoL! Si si, it's a small world afterall....si, bello? *sorrisi*

We are just so excited for your trip, Kenzu! Make sure you have some pizza bianca while you are in Rome, too. Angelo has a recipe for it... we have to find it and send it to you. It's such a basic (and easy) thing to make but OH it's sooo good. Especially with stew on top of it. I am so so so so homesick for Italy, I could just sit down and have a little cry. a beautiful cry though, not a sad cry. I really miss it and wish we could be there. In my next life, I am going to be Italian, caro! eheheh!

Happy vacation dreaming! Kisses to you and your wife and tell her that I am extremely happy for her! I just wish I could watch your children so you could stay longer then three days. When you can, tell me how many hours it takes to fly to Italy from Finland. It's a longggggggg flight from California, but worth every second of those 783934 hours.

Sorry this is so long, caro.... it's wonderful to see you and everyone again!

Un bacio.... me ~

p.s... you really DID make Angelo "drool" (eh eh!) over your perfect wine selection - Brunello di Montalacino. If you hear your doorbell ring... si si, it's Angelo 8) *grin*

Ciao, il mio amico caro Signora Innamorata and Angelo :D

Wou, your relative have left his bookmarks in Rome...we try to find it with all our capability and inform you asap we get back caro mio :)....You give us such a good hints , we will certainly taste pizza bianco and I am waiting eagerly the receipy of it. Other my favorite pasta sauce is a Bolognese with celery, carrots, onions, garlic, pomodori, minced meat and herbs. After you have cooked everything together you add some good redwine in and let it concoct. Great with fusilli or penne. This pasta sauce is also good if you watch a bit what you eat(I should but....) because there is hardly any fat at all in it. This is a pasta our children like the most and whats great you can use whats left of the stew for a pizza next or following day :D

Our flight to Rome takes about 5 1/2 hours its reasonable, don´t like to sit in jets : . In 1978 when I vistited my uncle in L.A the flight took 24h. It was DC10 strike, and had to change plain in Seattle. Flew Helsinki-Stockholm-Copenhagen-Seattle-Los Angeles. It was my first time ever in a jet and it was a adventure I will never foget.

Fino alla prossima volta, Kenzu

Kenzu....... ok,ok....I have the typical California question for you... eh eh! When you flew to LA in '78, did you get to Disneyland? *lol*

I adore Disneyland! I always said I could live there :P Have you been to the Disneyland in Paris? Sigh...I have not been to Paris (or any part of France). I must win the lottery before I die, it's a MUST! eh eh!

I "love" to fly, Kenzu. Put near me an airport and I get goosebumps and shivers. It is the thrill of a lifetime during the "take off". My blood rushes just to think about that! After you are in the air for three hours though, it gets a little boring - bleah! LoL! I also love the landing. Swish goes my heart again and I am ready to jump out of the window to go start exploring.

Guess what? Today I found Angelo's hand written recipies for both the Penne alla Vodka dish - and - for the pizza bianca - BUT - get this, they are both in Italian and and I can't understand the words at all. Plus, his handwritting, beautiful as it is, is veryyyy Italian looking, so add that to the confusion of being written in Italian and mamma mia  it looks Greek to me *lol*

His pizza bianca recipe is VERY long (those Italians are so dramatic, aren't they....lol) and so it might take him some time to translate it out. I don't understand why it is so long because it looked so easy to make. Obviously, I was wrong (this happens often, I find...eheh)

He is at a work meeting right now and tomorrow evening we have Michael's school band concert to go to (he plays the clarinet) - but next week I will have him translate it for you and I will put it in the Recipe thread for you, ok? Or if you prefer, we can send it to your email, whichever you prefer.

What is the time difference between California and Finland? I'll have to look that up. We are 9 hours behind Italy's time and 8 hours behind England's time.

I'll give you the instructions on how to find Cafe Greco again before you leave. It's just down the same street as the Spanish Stairs, so it will be very easy for you to find. One straight line. In fact I was thinking of calling Andrea and having him meet you in Cafe Greco at 7 p.m. on your first day there. I thought perhaps you would like to have dinner with him, si? lollllllll :D

Ciao bello! Kisses to your family! Xo (you have 2 babies, si? - 2 boys? 2 girls? boy and a girl?) I have 2 boys - almost 18 & almost 13. They are soooo cute 8)
