Bocelli Performance a Stunning Success
Raising almost $700,000 to benefit the Vision of Children Foundation
International classical recording superstar Andrea Bocelli gave a sold-out performance at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego in La Jolla’s Sherwood Auditorium on November 11 to benefit the Vision of Children Foundation. Singing to a packed house, the highly acclaimed tenor was joined onstage by soprano Ana Maria Martinez for several arias.
Mr. Bocelli agreed to stop in San Diego - his only date in the Los Angeles, Orange County or San Diego County areas - solely for this event. Thanks to the opera star’s amazing generosity with his talent, and overwhelming support from Vision of Children supporters, the Foundation was able to raise almost $700,000, over 92 per cent of which will go directly into research.
Since its inception in 1991, the Foundation has been able to fund over thirty researchers, identify the gene that causes genetic vision disorders, clone it, and work to find a cure for childhood genetic blindness and vision disorders.
After the performance, guests sipped champagne and tasted an array of fabulous desserts. Sam and Vivian Hardage were privileged to welcome Andrea Bocelli to the stage, where the singer spoke eloquently of his support for The Vision of Children Foundation. Truly, An Evening With Andrea Bocelli was a night none of the guests will ever forget.
