"Everybody dies. It does mean it’s okay to be fat." So said Willma in her most recent post on the subject of Deborah Voigt being fired from The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, because of some stage director's fit of pique regarding her weight.

Allright then, if "it's okay to be fat" I don't understand what this whole argument was about. At first I thought it was about an overweight soprano versus Willma and a temperamental stage director, but apparently our "leader of the opposition" (on every subject) has finally thrown in the towel, on this topic at least, and has expressed her agreement with those of us who are on the side of Deborah Voigt.

Wonders will never cease! Since Willma has now admitted that "it's okay to be fat," it seems fair to conclude that she's also decided it's time to close this discussion. For once, I heartily concur.

BTW, my post does not constitute a reversal of my earlier promise that I would no longer reply to Willma directly. But when she offers a piece of unintended humour this delicious I can't resist commenting on it. Hoo ha! It's okay to be fat according to the gospel of Willma! "It does mean it’s okay to be fat." Hee Haw!

Keep the aspidistra flying! silly

Doug

Opps - that's a typo. Most people got that, I bet - but thanks for the opportunity to spell it out for you or others who may need it.

One think I have noticed about you, Doug - you seldom address an issue but harp on something like a typo - another of your comments pertained to the to-too-two issue as I recall. This is just an obvious ploy when you know your points are groundless or your logic holey. Whatever! We can all use a heads-up on grammar and spelling. Logic - yours - is not so easily corrected.

However, that was interesting reading about the deaths of all those opera people. One could reach the conclusion - don't be an opera star. You're likely to meet a sorry end!!
