ART: "ONE VOICE, ONE MUSEUM", RAI AND CULTURAL HERITAGE TOGETHER
(AGI) - Rome, Italy, March 12 - "One voice, One museum". This is the slogan of the promotional campaign of the Italian artistic heritage, which will involve Rai Educational and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, which already led to a series of art films shot by several directors in prestigious national museums, following the documentary technique. The campaign was presented today by minister Giuliano Urbani, RAI Educational director Giovanni Minoli, opera singer Andrea Bocelli (who sings the song of the spot), and by Caterina Caselli, president of the record company 'Sugar'. Both Bocelli and Sugar didn't want to be paid for their participation, nor for the rights on the songs. The minister stressed this aspect during the presentation's press conference. This is a very important event - he said - because the documentaries illustrate some of the most significant places representing Italian culture. We hope that this initiative can involve other sites in future".
Documentaries have already been shot in Parma's National Gallery and Teatro Farnese (Anna Proclemer is the narrating voice), in Mantova's Palazzo Ducale, Bargello Museum in Florence, National Picture Gallery of Bologna, National Art Gallery of Rome, Palazzo and Galleria Spada in Rome, Capodimonte museum in Naples, Palazzo Ducale in Venice and the life of Caravaggio.
Andrea Bocelli explained that, even on this occasion, he felt as if he was "standing up to defend Italian culture, often attacked by distant, overseas cultures". The music that accompanies the videoclip which will be shown on TV and in theatres is, according to Bocelli, the best possible one: "Malia" by Francesco Paolo Tosti, a style similar to the one much loved in England in the 19th century. The music was arranged by Lorin Maazel, who plays an original Stradivari violin of the late 18th century, an invaluable piece. The orchestra director - said Caterina Caselli - entirely approved the initiative: "we can only support these initiatives. Music is something that involves everything that's nice, just like art".
Giovanni Minoli said that spreading art is a "duty, to fill in a gap in memory, to recognise our origins". The documentary technique, following Florestano Vancini's method, is due to the desire to make a sort of "history project", convinced that it will be a success. Minoli also stressed that a documentary allows to rediscover a language specifically thought for TV, "now sacrificed by information and talk shows. But the public TV must now find its nexus with the citizens again", and the documentary technique is the best way to achieve this. (AGI)
