Lorna told me that she just "happened" to run into Alberto at the Pisa airport today. What are the odds?

I hope you can stay in that deleriously happy shock state for at least another week, Lorna - you have every reason!

What a fun photo ! ! !

(p.s... I bet Tina wishes she took "your flight", right?)

Welcome home, you two ! !

Lorna,

Alberto looks positively ecstatic to hook up with you once again. I guess all thoughts of the pine nut have been driven from your head. I really like his Letterman tee shirt. When I saw him, he was wearing one that said Jack Daniels. I think Alberto is a good ol' boy!

Here we go then...my last day in Toscana!

Our last morning in Lucca was spent chatting happily over breakfast with Tina and Chris, although tinged with sadness as this was the end of a wonderful holiday.
Our flight was not due to leave Pisa until 10.50 pm so we had to decide what to do for the last day. After our farewells to Tina and Chris we made the decision to head off to Pisa for the day and make our way to the airport around 6 pm.
Left Lucca at around midday after hugs with Tina and a fond farewell to Paolo (the most friendliest hotelier in Lucca). It was very sad driving through the gates but full of great memories.
Arrived in Pisa 30 mins later, parked the car and strolled round the sights of the Leaning Tower and the Duomo. It was very warm so we decided to find shade in a small cafe in one of the back streets. This particular cafe was beautiful. It was typical Italian....goregeous sweets, biscuits and cakes all individually wrapped in the most wonderful packaging you could imagine!
I had a crepe with filled with ricotta and spinach, drooling in the most tastiest tomato sauce...yum yum! We spent an hour sitting in the shade people watching, whilst deciding our next move.
We strolled some more of the back streets and crossed the river but the heat was incredible so once again we found a shady spot back at the Leaning Tower in one of the bars and enjoyed another hour of people watching. Geoff suggested making our way to the airport early...seemed a sensible idea even though we still had six hours until our flight back to Gatwick, but we were starting to feel very hot and sweaty and we knew the airport would be cool. I think we left at about 3.30 pm and pulled into the airport at 4.20 pm. We parked in the short stay car park which was the wrong one as we had the hired car to return but we decided to stay put until later in the evening....too much hassle to get back out in this heat! Good decision Geoff as if we had parked in the correct place AND entered the other entrance I would have missed the truly wonderful sight waiting at this particular spot!! Remember also that the decision to arrive at the airport this early was totally out of the blue!!
Geoff was 'bursting' so he headed immediately to the toilets and I proceeded slowly to the entrance which was very close to the toilets Geoff had gone in.
As I neared the doors I could see 3 men chatting at the entrance and in particular I noted the beautiful long locks of the man stood on the right. Uh oh... I thought, this cannot be Alberto, can it? I reached for my camera and quickly snapped a long distance photo (blurred), think this was because I was starting to shake LOL!! It was him! I was now certain and I was standing about 5 feet away from this wonderful sight. All 3 glanced at me but I turned my head 'don't know why' it was just instinct!!
After a calming deep breath I approached them and one of the men turned to me and I said, 'excuse me, this is Alberto?' I mean what a silly question!! He smiled and said 'Si Si Alberto. At this time Alberto was looking at me and I asked if I may take his photo which the same man relayed to him. Alberto smiled and said Si Si!! The other man took my camera and Alberto put his arm around my shoulder and gave the most wonderful smile. I was feeling a little shaky and at the same time my husband walked out of the toilets!!! He had seen him and was coming to tell me but I had beaten him to it!!! LOL!
We all then checked the photo and I struggled to flick the button to view it, my hands were shaking! I said I am shaking and Alberto said something like...no, no you mustn't. he was laughing!
I said I have been to see Andrea in Tosca and he acknowleded this with great enthusiasm. I said Andrea was brilliant and he shook my hand hand and said 'Grazie, Grazie'!.
I thanked him and left him in peace to stay chatting with his pals but once inside the airport I could not move from the spot....!! I had to make sure that Andrea was not arriving so I kept a sneaky eye on him until he said farewell to his pals and they also entered the airport.
I watched Alberto get his ticket for parking and then make his way to his vehicle.
Geoff was getting our cases from the car at this time, as he had been to the desk to see if we could get on the earlier flight which left in 30 mins!
As he was getting the cases out of the car Alberto was purchasing his ticket right next to the vehicle!
I immediately text Tina as best I could as I had no control over my fingers on the mobile, it took another 30 mins for me to regain composure

This was a wonderful meeting and I still can't believe how it all happened as we were not due at the airport for several hours and if we had gone to the correct entrance I would have missed him!!

We did get on the earlier flight so we arrived home at a more convenient time.....

Yes Willma...Pinnochio did go from my mind but I was searching for him in Lucca. Sadly I did not see the same one but many in the shops

Yes Sandie...I am still in shock and this is the next day! What a great ending to a super holiday

Talk about some fun smiling moments! Lorna... mille grazie, really. You just made my Friday morning so VERY happy and I have no doubt that everyone who read this post (and saw your photo) has had the same reaction. It just makes you feel happy (!!), just like what Melodie said in regards to the photo. Thanks for the happy morning moments!

p.s.. Lorna, I forgot to ask you. If I am not mistaken, this is the 2nd time that you've gotten to wrap your arms around that bello Italiano's waist, right? If memory serves me right, I could swear that when I first came to BOL, I saw a photo of you and Alberto in front of --- ? ---- was it the cantina?

If I am right, you are 2 for 2 with your last trips, in regards to being lucky with bumping into that troppo dolce uomo two times in a row. Whoa, maybe your next trip, you & Geoff will actually share a dinner with him????? Who knows! :P

Yes Sandie...2 out of 2, someone up there is on my side!
I did look for Alberto at the second performance of Tosca (Tina will tell you that) and felt a 'tinge' of disappointed not to see him there...but how can I complain!!
Right at the very end of my hols...wow!! Can't stop staring at this photo

No, No, No Sandie.....next trip maybe just 'I' will share a dinner with him  (I wish)!!

Lorna,

Next time you hook up with Alberto - and I am sure there will be a next time - take a peek at that little pendant he always wears around his neck, the one on the black choker. He was wearing that when I saw him two years ago so he must never take it off. I'm wondering if it is a Miraculous Medal.

Isn't it amazing how Italian men can just drape themselves over you naturally without a bit of embarrassment or stiffness. When I had my "moment" with Alberto, I felt as if he were actually enjoying himself and hugging him back felt natural to me. He certainly appears to be having a wonderful time with you. I bet he just loves to catch the reflected glow from Andrea and bask in his own sort of celebrity. Well, it my book, Alberto gets top marks. Perhaps he is really the pick of the litter but I will have to hug Andrea before I make any final decisions.

I noticed his pendant as soon as I was about 2 feet away from him Willma! Silly thing to say but.. I KNEW it was him..... however seeing the pendant confirmed it for me!! It must mean something 'special' to him.

Yes a very natural guy...just wish he had said' '' Hi Lorna..how you doing? It's been a long time?' LOL

HA ha HA ha!! Just fell over! Too cute!

Well, as for the *other* Alberto photo moment you indulged in back when, I am glad I wasn't seeing thing - I sure had thought I had seen a photo of you and him before. Sometimes I make fantasies happen in my mind for those I think deserve them.....sooooo...I did have to "check in" for a reality check. Grin! Glad it was a REAL photo and memory for you afterall.

As for Geoff... true true.... God love the marito's but sometimes 3 IS a crowd, isn't it? 8)

Willma - what a perfectly perfect way in which to describe the ease of Italian men and how they "drape" themselves over you naturally. Truer words have never been spoken. I loved your words. I've got to share them with Angelo. He just got home. We're having (wow!) the 2nd alone weekend in 3 weekends now (surely I am dreaming?)..... so in one split moment.... I am off, to be, oooh.... draped.

How could Alberto possibly forget his first meeting with the beautiful, sensuous Lorna?

You know Lorna.... there is no doubt..... one of these 2 gorgeous photo's with Alberto must be painted on canvas and hung directly over your fireplace mantel!! (big BIG canvas, at that)..... LoL!!

I'm sure Geoff would not mind  eh eh eh!

hey hey, p.s....... maybe on the older photo, the artist could manage to "not paint" his wedding ring? and maybe on the recent painting the artist could manage "to paint" BocelliOnLine on his t-shirt? :P
