Well, I have seen Alberto many times, have stayed in the same hotel as Carlo and I do not live in a vacuum. I see the Bocelli's as plain as say, Mr. Volpe. My question to you all, if you only had you sense of hearing, would you hear AB's voice? This is a loaded question, so think about it, because this is what AB wants and what all the Opera educated people hear. They do not see all the other things you all see.

I'm trying to make sense of your post - are you sayng that if we didn't see the whole package - the sexy guy, the champion of the blind, the tower of Tuscan testosterone - would we still be able to hear his voice?
My answer to that is - sure, why not? I'm not deaf. And, yes, everybody sees what we see with a few exceptions, You may be one of them.

But what in the world is "because this is what AB wants". Marilynn, I must say with all possible kindness, you are being utterly ridiculous.
We all PRESUME to know what AB wants. I have come to my conclusions by watching the man over the years. This is certainly not a chore. I like watching him, most recently, draped over that rock in a centerfold position. I've enjoyed reading about his sexual exploits and expectations of women in his own machismo words; I was amused at his association with Victoria Secret underwear. I listened when he told the world that he was having sex with a 21 year old girl but didn't want marriage and children. I have come to the conclusion that he is selling himself, the whole package, voice included. His whole life is one big "look at me!"
Personally, I'm buying the package.

How have you come to your conclusions that he is selling just his voice - if that is what you're saying? Even if he said this once in some sort of self-effacing way, it's part of his schtick. "Please, just listen to my voice. If my primal, sexy looks have proven a distraction to the high brow culture I am dishing out, please forgive me. I know my modesty is making me even more adorable so, schucks, I can't win!"

Alberto is putting himself out there in much the same way but without the benefit of the handlers and, of course, AB's voice, although Alberto did tell me he also sings a little. If you think of the Bocellis as "plain" - so is Andrea. That's his family, his gene pool, his ultimate reference group in things that really matter. If you should ever be so fortunate, in one of your hotel stays, to meet the "real thing", the man himself, don't tell him his family is plain. He might not like that. Tell him you found them to be warm, natural, spontaneous, genuine and fun-loving.

Wilma I laugh that you think my opinion of AB is plain. I love his voice, but cringe when his looks/sexuallity becomes what he is about. I am sure he laughs at the very thought. Can you imagine what his life would be like without his 6 foot bodyguard girlfriend. I think he referred to her as his protection in a resent interview. Over the years I have really lost any interest in meeting him personally, I think I would probably be disappointed or spend the rest of my life obsessively trying to say EXACTLY what I ment to say. Does that sound familiar to anyone? Everyone should just go on buying his Opera CD's, going to all his concerts and standing outside the venue, just to sneak a peak. As for Alberto, he is a scrounge and his mother put AB half blind, in a boarding shcool. Come on, not very heroic is it in the 1960's?

I'm kicking you to the curb, Marilynn. After that, I'm going to grab a bottle of disinfectant and wash down everything you touched.

Lorna, it's been so busy in here lately and so I'm not sure if you caught site of the link that offers 2 reallyyyy, really yummy photo's of Andrea and Alberto. Seriously yummy. Make sure you click on the photo's as they enlarge. The bottom one, just kills my heart. Talk about the essence of exuding happiness, not to speak of, frightenly sexy to boot. Yeow! No words on that one! ------------------- and the top one! Check at the way Angelica is looking at Alberto! Is that TOO precious OR what? damn my sentimental ways. i need a tissue again. these 2 kill me off in these 2 shots

happy cry ---- http://www.geocities.com/Vienna/Choir/6642/weber.html

Marilynn...........I can`t decide if it is jelousy or ignorance from which you speak,to attack Veronica without even knowing her, i for one are glad she is there, he looks better then he has in a long time, and who better then someone who loves him,to watch over him.
and it would be hard for be to believe you have children, for if you didyou would know that what Edi did for Andrea, she did out of her love for her son,and tough love is the hardest kind, i can only imagine how many nights she went to bed crying with a heavy heart , i have a great respect for her, and a great deal of sadness for you, how lonely it must be in that little place where you live : .

Lorna, Tina, & si, keep up the good work, i love all the storys, pictures, all!! what a open and warm family they must be, to welcome us strangers into there life with open arms........ could someone tell them i`m up for addoption   hugs m.j

Yes, amici.... there is a saying that is so simple, but holds so much weight.

Let us be grateful to people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. - ...Marcel Proust

When one's soul stops blossoming, there is no longer a purpose in life. What purpose could there be, if we allowed our souls to whiter away?

Thank God, truly, for all of the charming gardeners He shares with us.

I always thought that both Alberto and Signore Eddi had their own businesses and therefore would have no need to scrounge financially from Andrea. As for attending his concerts, going to dinners with him, sharing his triumphs, etc, etc - well, he is part of their family and that's what families do, isn't it? I guess sending Andrea away to boarding school broke his mothers' heart. It would have broken mine, but if I thought it was for the best and if I were strong enough, then I would have done the same were I in Eddi's sad situation.

I tried to download this and my computer was NOT having it at all! I am no computer buff...is there any other way I can view this? Please!!

P.S. Did you receive my email?

Sally/Emjay
I totally agree!
How heart breaking for Edi to have made such a decision...and yes the lonely nights..unthinkable!!
I will always remember the piece in The Music of Silence where Sandro breaks his heart as he hides his face in the newspaper (after leaving Andrea at the Boarding School)!! Again..unthinkable!
