Many seemed very disappointed with this concert, Andrea was the reason we went not the endless & sometimes boring other acts. He sang only 8 songs & to many seemed quite uncomfortable. There was much yawning & lack of enthusium & even some sleeping. Toward the end the choir kept singing song after song & there were many shouts for Andrea to sing instead. this show seemed very unorganized, there was no introductions just people coming & going from the stage, by now the audience expects to hear at least a few words from Andrea.
If I & others had know the set up of this show we would have passed, it just was not worth sitting through just to hear 8 songs. |

I haven't seen any advertising that this was a "Bocelli concert" - it's "A Royal Christmas FEATURING Andrea Bocelli". In my opinion, if he had addressed the audience directly, it would have been disrespectful to the other performers, as he was only a part of the whole show.

You BOUGHT a ticket to a variety show. What is puzzling to some is that a top liner like Andrea would be IN a variety show. I think the answer is that his solo ticket sales were dropping in large venues and he wished to keep his name out there until he could ride the crest of renewed popularity through his up and coming pop CD. This approach may work over all - and I think it will - though disappointing to those who are diehard fans and whose devotion never lagged. It is frustrating but at least you saw him. I'm dismayed to hear you felt the rest of the show was just thrown together. If true, that is a shame. I think it is nice to have a holiday show of some sort to liven up the season. People have checked out The Nutcracker and The Messiah ad nauseum. It's time for different fare. Perhaps, this is not it. _________________ Although, in his life, he was often called the imbecile from Illinois, history has proven otherwise. |

I don't understand why people don't pay attention to what they read. This is a Christmas Show, not an Andrea Bocelli concert. It's disgraceful the way they behave. Hope it won't happen tomorrow at MSG. I am planning to have a good time but if someone starts making noise, I will make sure the Security Guards take them away... I swear! _________________ "Canto alla vita alla sua bellezza ad ogni sua

| Right On, Nellie....The posters, etc. all read London Philharmonic, Westminister Choir, Principal dancers from the Kiev Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet. If people would only stop and think: The orchestra will play pieces, so will the choir, and the dancers will definitely dance more than once or twice. They certainly wouldn't be traveling from Europe and all over the U.S. for just AB now, would they?? If the show is two hours plus, and Andrea sings 8-9 selections that's just about right. Some people are downright rude these days and spoil it for others. For myself, I'm just happy that I can make the trip to see not only him, but the others too. I love The Nutcracker and really look forward to this show - and I don't call it a "Variety Show" either. Enjoy the show Nellie.... |

It is a show that has a variety of acts in it - singing and dancing. What else can you call it? _________________ Although, in his life, he was often called the imbecile from Illinois, history has proven otherwise. |

I guess there are many frustrated people in the world these days and I believe by their own choice. Life is not easy but having a positive attitude and avoiding being dominated by envy and all the other dark and vicious thoughts, things can improve for everybody. I am very happy that I will be seeing not only Andrea but many other performances by artists that if they have a "solo" appearance, it will cost me a lot more money. Andrea singing 8 or 9 songs is just a miracle. I was expecting 2 or 3 songs the most. We are lucky we can attend this show (variety or whatever people that cannot attend wan to call it, it doesn't matter and who cares anyway) and like you, I am planning to enjoy it every second. Life is good to us, don't you think? Let's have fun while we can... :slick _________________ "Canto alla vita alla sua bellezza ad ogni sua

A Royal Christmas,& i guess sort of a celebration event. I think it was nice that Andrea, could be a part of this event,& he probably knew all the time that he could not speak out of turn,& be rude. Thats just not his style.
Thats the way to be,live, love, laugh,& be happy. Be thankful that you could attend the Royal Christmas. Some people could not afford to go,& i am one of them. I would have loved to be there,& just to get a glimps of Andrea in person.
Hug's to everyone.

If a person is not pleased with what they paid for, why should they be thankful? It wasn't as if tickets were given away. Paying customers don't need to be admonished if they are unhappy. Maybe others would appreciate a heads-up on the program so they can make a more informed decision about going. This is a very appropriate use of a discussion forum From the beginning, I thought of this as holiday fare, not a Bocelli concert. Maybe others thought that way too but they really didn't believe it until they were confronted with reality. _________________ Although, in his life, he was often called the imbecile from Illinois, history has proven otherwise. |

Maby some of the fan's were so excited and just wasn't thinking,& thought it was a concert.
It's to late now, they have already been confronted with it and seen it.
After all,Andrea was just part of everyone else that was in the show, but him getting to sing 8 and/or 9 songs is wonderful.
I only wish i could have been there.

In Boston, the concert is billed Andrea Bocelli's Royal Christmas. Wouldn,t that give him the right to address to the audience? How could it be rude to the rest of the cast? He is the star, no? _________________ Where there's life, there's hope |

The ideal person to attend these concerts is a person vaguely aware of Andrea Bocelli and wanting to do something for the holidays. After they see him, I am sure a large percentage will be hooked and buy tickets to his own concerts. Also, diehard fans who will take whatever they can get will also not be disappointed - or admit that they are. The in-between folks who bought tickets without thinking it through may be those who are most disgruntled. _________________ Although, in his life, he was often called the imbecile from Illinois, history has proven otherwise. |

I attended the D.C. concert last evening, and I thought the entire concert was excellent. Andrea's voice was in great form, even thrilling at times, as it always is to me. I expected a variety show and was pleased when Andrea sang as many songs as he did. He was extremely well-received by the audience and seemed to smile a lot and enjoy himself. He even spoke a few words at the end expressing how happy he was to be doing this kind of concert, especially singing the sacred arias which were so important for this time of the year.
I enjoyed every minute!

I second that Annette. Andrea seemed relaxed and smiled often. Yes, this was something 'different from usual concert'---his exact words to the audience. I'm a little guilty myself of comparing the two,at least during the first half, but that was wrong because this was clearly advertised for what it is. But by the second half, I was sold----maybe because Andrea sang more during the second half . What really did it for me was when he sang 'Sancta Maria', a longtime favorite of mine from 'Sacred Arias'. I had never heard him sing it live until last night. That piece of music does something to me. The audience seemed to get more into it further in (isn't that usually the case) until they are cheering by the end. All in all, a beautiful show. And if I remember correctly, Andrea sang 10 or 11 songs. Annette you can probably confirm or correct this. And we even got our encores which we weren't expecting. BTW Annette, send me a PM---you know what I want to hear about. _________________ "To sing, to sing, to sing......." (Andrea revealing his future plans to Classic fm)
