A fabulous night for the town of Hamar
Many people were impressed by the concert of Andrea Bocelli at the Vikingship of Hamar Tuesday evening.
The mayor of Hamar was very impressed by the Andrea Bocelli concert in the Vikingship of Hamar on Tuesday evening. “A fantastic night evening for Hamar," Einar Busterud said after the concert.
An audience of over 8500 people saw the international star Andrea Bocelli sing in the Vikingship, and the mayor, Einar Busterud, says the town can be proud of what it has done.
"We have shown we can use the Vikingship [an arena built like a Vikingship and used for speedskating during the Olympics in 1994] and we can stand up against Oslo in arranging big concerts," Busterud said.
Expectant audience
Already at 6pm Tuesday evening the first spectators were gathering for the concert. The blind Italian opera star has gotten people to pay from six to eleven hundred Norwegian crowns to buy a ticket. Aase Jones from Elverum found the show touching. "I do not understand opera, but I know what is beautiful. I almost begun to cry," Aase says.
Worth every crown
Astrid Louise Knudsen (13yo) and her mom Gro from Holland in Akershus are among those who consider the concert tonight is worth both the money and the time spent. "We have driven for two hours, but it is worth it," says the mother, and Astrid Louise agrees. "I listen to a lot of other music too, but as both mom and dad play Bocelli at home, it makes me used to and liking it," Astrid says.
Warmed by a three-course dinner
In a heated VIP-tent in the parking lot close to the Vikingship, a couple of hundred guests had a three-course dinner with wine before the concert. Borgar Bakker and Peder Nafstad usually work for HIAS and Schöyens`s carcentrals but were for the evening working as servants to make money for Storhamar Hockey. "This is voluntary work, and there will be no concert for us," Borgar says, which means a roof for the ice hockey arena is more important than the music.
