"Earning his highest Billboard 200 chart position ever, Andrea Bocelli takes the No. 3 slot with "Amore." With sales of 113,000 copies, the Sugar/Decca/Universal release also opens at No. 1 on Billboard's Classical Crossover chart. The album features duets with Stevie Wonder and Christina Aguilera."

| I thought I'd remembered correctly that his previous high mark was #4 and I guess I was right if #3 is his highest ever! I hope all the TODAY show appearances and the other upcoming tv spots keep AMORE at the top where it belongs! :slick |

The second week has Amore in at number 4 (number 3 last week) on the Billboard top 200, also still at number 3 at amazon and checks in at number 15 at I Tunes.

Paula, you catch on quick!  I can't remember when I started referring to Andrea as THE MAN (all caps!) but you obviously know why! And when you see him in person TOMORROW  you will know why even MORE! :slick |

And I can remember way back when here on Bocelli Online we used to refer to Andrea Bocelli as OFT (Opera's Finest Tenor). He is still that and more.
Paula I can't wait to see you pictures and read all about your Bocelli in person experience.

When I learned "OFT", I was told it meant "Our Favorite Tenor". But the letters naturally lend themselves to scads of things that are appropriate for Andrea..."One FINE Tuscan"  for example. |

I DON'T REMEMBER IF I MENTIONED THIS BEFORE, ANDREA RECEIVED A GOLD AWARD FROM THE RIAA A FEW MONTHS AGO FOR ANDREA (THATS 500,000 IN UNIT SALES IN THE USA AND CANADA).

Yes its funny a gold album back in olden times was at first 333,000 in unit sales. Whish was around $1 million in gross sales. Then in the 70's (1976), they changed it to 500,000 units and also added the platinum award which is 1,000,000 in unit sales (that was in 1976) if you had an album out before 1976 and it sold gold, to be declared platinum it would have to have sold an additional 500,000 units after 75. Kind of unfair but that's the way it is. Since the advent of HUGE sellers if you go 10 times Platinum (10,000,000) you get a Diamond Award and so on double diamond for 20 mil. So far nothing has broke the triple diamond mark. But the Eagles Greatest's hits and Michael Jackson's thriller are close.

I saw that its very cool, Number one on Friday, number one on Saturday, number 3 on Sunday, number one on Monday and still number one today. That Olympics appearance, and NBC today show were huge. The other appearances are so so, Tony Danza, The View, the late late show and Martha are all low rated shows, but any TV appearances help. I am surprised Bo did not go on Regis and Kelly, The tonight Show and letterman, all higher rated shows. The Dr Phil show has good ratings so that will be a good appearances, But I hope its more of a concert then too much talk. Incidentally, when Bo is on there it will be the first time I have ever watched the show LOL.
Bo also did an interview on a Spanish channel while he was hear in the US, I was just channel surfing and happened to catch it, I think it was on univision. The Spanish TV networks are BIG, I remember back in the 80's the SIN network was the most watched network in the world.
