My friend Caroline, has been kind enough to do this translation:
Eleven Years after his spectacular performance in the Night of the Proms Andrea Bocelli is back in the Antwerp Sport Palace. The world star is giving a concert together with the Chech National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Marcel Rota. Bocelli, who is at present in the album hitlists with his new album Amore, will be singing from his classical as well as his pop repertoire.
Bocelli was born 22.09.58 in Tuscany. His musical career started in 92 when he sung a demo for Pavarotti of the song Miserere, written by Zucchero and Bono of U2. Pavarotti who sung the tenor part was so impressed by the demo that he immediately called Bocelli one of the best tenors he had ever heard. After perfecting his classical voice under the tuition of Franco Corelli, who was the personal mentor of Pavarotti, and Pavarotti himself, Bocelli made a sucessful entry into the operaworld. In 1994 it was made it clear that music for him knew no boundaries: he sung the song "IlMare Calmo della Serra" with both the voice of a pop musician and a passionate classical tenor and so hijacked first prize at the San Remo music festival.
Bocelli debuted in 1994 in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, but the floodgates opened when a year later he sung the stars out of the sky during the "Night of the Proms" in the same three countries. Very soon the whole world was enamoured with his big hit "Con te Partiro" (which was later sung as the duet "Time to Say Goodbye" with Sarah Brightman) and with this talented artist who, with his special voice, who can sing big opera arias as well as popular love songs. Since that time Andrea has been working on both pop and classical and has sold nearly 50 million records worldwide. With his remarkable pop albums "Romanza" "Sogno" "Cieli di Toscane" and "Andrea" and his new musical style he stole a place amongst the best in the popworld, and the hearts of millions of music lovers. As far as the classical recordings are concerned, he impressed with "Viaggio Italiano" " Aria" "Sacred Arias" "Verdi" and "Sentimento" and with the complete recordings of the works such as Verdi's "Requiem", "La Boheme", "Il Trovatore", "Tosca" and "Werther". He will sing from both repertoires at the concert at the Sport Palace.
Nearly 10 years after "Romanza", his album of passionate, original Italian popballads, Andrea scores again with "Amore" a record full of beautiful love songs and romantic pop standards. For the first time he presents an album on which one cannot hear classical influences. Andrea explores new terrain, with Spanish guitars, traditional Latin percussion, accordions and harmonicas. After 14 "evergreens" from the period of the twenties to the eighties, there is one new number: "Because we Believe", which has also been released as a single, and for the Flemish and Dutch market was
recorded as a duet with Marco Borsato. The single has already spent 6 weeks in the Ultra-TopTen. The album, which has been a worldwide success, is number 2 on our list and is nicely on its way to platinum status.
