I really love the new album, tho to be honest, I listen to only a few cuts -- I look at them as covers of songs I have loved for a long time - I find them sexy and soothing. I agree totally that the CD "Andrea" was a waste -poorly conceived and poorly produced (tho there are one or two cuts on that CD that I do listen to occasionally).
I haven't listened to the older CDs for quite a while, as I got bored with them, too, but I will try them again based on this conversation. I really liked CDT, but don't recall thinking it was amazing (in contrast to Sogno and Romanza, which were amazing, in my opinion) -- what were the highlights of that CD for others-- maybe I'm missing something?
Can anyone recommend some really great CDs by other Italian or Spanish-speaking artists? (I KNOW you have some Sandi...)

| I always feel sad when I hear people use that expression. I don't know why it has to be so. I have all of Andreas albums pop , opera and anything else and the only one I regret buying isAmore. Some of the operatic arias are a wonderful vehicle for his voice but I can understand that people who don't like opera wouldn't want to listen to hours of it . I am not a great opera fan but enjoy one or two of the better known operas. I certainly wouldn't bother to buy them if Andrea wasn,t performing. On a few occasions I,ve tried to listen to others performing the same roles but once you've heard him you don,t want to listen to the others even if their singing is considered to be more correct. It has a lot to do with intelligence and emotion I think. With regard to the physical demands of his concert schedule,I wonder if anyone else feels the dilemma that I do after his concerts? Of course I want to applaud and show appreciation but he sometimes looks so tired I feel guilty about forcing him to do encores! |

Buona Sera a Tutti!
I've enjoyed reading about everyone's favorites. I have to say that I fall among those who hold a special place in their hearts for the early recordings. Each CD has it's own little treasure, but for me, Viaggio Italiano, Cieli di Toscana, and Sogno are my favorite albums of popular music. Aria~The Opera Album, Verdi, and La Boheme are the classical offerings I turn to most frequently.
With each new recording, I do quickly identify my preferred tracks, like Per Noi in Andrea and Besame Mucho in Amore. Yet, it always seems that I return to my trusted old friends, the ones I've loved from the beginning, when I want to hear the beauty of Andrea Bocelli's voice.
There is, however, one recording I look forward to with great anticipation. (Those who know me already know what I'm going to say! ) For some time now, Andrea has said that he would be releasing a recording of Cavelleria Rusticana, and my Sicilian DNA spins at the very thought! (I first heard of this during the MSN Chat interview that Andrea took part in some time back and he mentioned it again on Valentine's Day at the XM Satellite Radio Broadcast.)
Be well,
Anna _________________ Beddu Turridu !!!!!!!!!!!! |

I also love the older cds, Sogno, La Boheme, Aries, on a hectic morning i always finish my afternoon listening to Aries, so calming, but i have to say my favorite has to be Ciele Di Toscana, so much emotion, that is the one i listen to when i go to sleep.
But as far as Andrea, and Amore, i can`t say i don`t like them there are a few songs that i will skip over, but all in all i think it is just showing differant parts of his personality, like he says in the interview he sang these songs when he was younger in the piano bars and he has fond memories of them, and as far as Amore is concerned, i have so many memories conected to that cd, and when he sings i see differant things in my head and it makes me smile.
Besides i don`t think he would be able to sing anything i would not like, i`m compleatly hooked ........... hugs m.j _________________ " HAVE A BOCELLI DAY FULL OF SUNSHINE AND SMILES" |

Hello, all of you wonderfful Ladies. I've missed you.
I just want to say this:
I fell in love with Andrea.s voice the very first time i heard him,and i guess i'll always feel that way.
As far as his Pop music goes.I like it too,but not as much as his old CD's of Opera. He has a different Operetic voice than any other Opera singer i've ever heard. It is soothing peaceful, and just makes one feel very different in mind, and in soul....When Andrea comes out with another CD,i know it will be wonderful, and how can he miss with the magnificent voice he has? I know there are other singers too, that i like, and there are alot, but Andrea has done it for me....I will say it again, that i wish Andrea, could sing with the Moody Blues Group. He could sing all of their song's so very wonderful, and their music is beautiful, and suited to Andrea's taste....
I love everyone, and send big hug's to all.

Hi Claire. Yes it's me from the Italy Mag forum!!
That really is a most interesting observation. The Moodies were always my favourite group, and I still believe Threshold of a Dream to be one of the great albums of the last 40 years.
As for Amore, I would not say it's his best, but it is different, with very much a Spanish feel to the music - even a jazzy feel to one or two tracks. I certainly found it immensely relaxing while driving to work and back.
I think people have to realise that Andrea is really a crossover artist - like Russell Watson and others - and, like my all-time idol, Ray Charles, he will record what he wants - if for no other reason than that he can. He will go where his heart tells him. One thing for sure, he will not lose the solid fan base that he has, simply because he does things his way, and that's why I respect him.

Oh,my. What a surprise. It's good to hear from you Peter, and i'm so happy you like the Moody Blues too. I have always liked them no matter what they sing, because their music is so beautiful, and their song's are heavenly....That's why i say that MR: Bocelli would sound so great singing their song's. Especially Wildest Dreams, and Land of make belief....
Threshold of a Dream,is just great.
They have made so many wonderful Album's. You are right Peter, that "Amore" is not one of Bocelli's best album's,but like you said,it is relaxing to hear....Yes,Andrea is considered a Crossover Artist now,and right again Peter. He will record what ever music he wants to,and he can sing just about anything. I've always liked Ray Charles....
I too, don't think Bocelli, will ever loose his solid Fan Base, which is so many all over the world now. I respect him to very much, and yes,he likes to do things his way. He even sang the song,"I did it my way"
Your Friend always.

I am a brand new Bocelli fan and I have to say, I love the Amore album. It is very summery and light -- relaxing, yet inspirational. I take Andrea running with me! The second album I bought was Sogno -- couldn't decide between it and Romanza and did the eeny meeny miney mo thing at Borders and ended up with Sogno. Anywho -- like that album too, but am I crazy to think that Andrea's vocals are much better today than back then?
Which album should I buy next? Since I like Amore, maybe I'd like Andrea? Or should I get Romanza? (I probably should just go and buy them all...) |

I think the difference now is that more technology is used in producing the albums. Many people [myself included ] prefer the earlier albums but they are not an 'instant fix'. Romanza includes songs from earlier albums also so again is slightly different. |

| I just feel I have to butt in and say that of all my Bocelli cds (speaking strictly pop here), Cieli di Toscana is my all-time favorite, and may always be. I love every single one for a different reason, and the really early ones will always have a special place in my heart, but CdT...well, it's just different. From the second I hear the first strains of Melodrama, it feels new all over again. It's downright swoon-able!!! I do think it's definitely THE BEST (imho, at least)!! |
