A blurb from a column by Norm Clarke at the Las Vegas Review-Journal, claims that Andrea was "....so smitten " by the voice of Katharine McPhee, that he'd like to take her on tour.
Here's the link to the column.
http://www.reviewjournal.com/lvrj_home/2006/May-26-Fri-2006/news/7625083.html
Those who viewed Andrea's Tuesday evening appearance on American Idol will recall that upon meeting with Andrea during the voice coaching segment, McPhee began singing "The Prayer". Andrea then joined in with her.
It will be interesting to see if such a development occurs!
Have a nice Memorial Day, everyone.

PS: "Smitten Rosie", if your out there, Darlin', I couldn't help thinking of you upon reading this ! Ciao Amica.... _________________ Beddu Turridu !!!!!!!!!!!! |

| Maybe Andrea sees which side of the bread tje butter is on.. I think McFee (spg?) is the daughter of some Hollywood Producer or Director or something. It seemed quite unfair to have her competing with other considering her connections. The only night I watched was the night Andrea was on so who knows.... |

| I've been reading all the negativity toward Katharine with regard to Andrea's possibly taking her on tour with him, on another forum. I can only say how wonderful this would be for this 21 year old to have this kind of influence on her beginning career. This beautiful girl (not "seen" by Andrea, with the beautiful voice ("heard" by Andrea), may end up being the true AI winner. By the way, I happen to love this show, as does my granddaugter and my friends' 82 year old father. |

| I promise not to Katharine bash. Well, not a big bash anyway. I just choose to believe that this story is just one reporter trying to come up with an interesting AI story. I just can't believe he's "smitten" as they say. I wish he'd have had an opportunity to hear all the female voices in the contest this year. I doubt her producer father would impress him. I'm sure he has a lot more important connections than him. But, I do often wonder if her dad isn't the reason she stayed in the running so long. As you pointed out, though, she had a broad appeal with young teens and preteens, and who has more time to call in hundreds of times each. |

| Carole maybe McPhee's father is a friend of Foster. I like to see Andrea giving encouragement to new young talent. Sometimes it makes the difference of them doing the hard work or just giving up in despair. |

| I think it is a sad commentary on our society that more people called in to vote on AI in one evening than cast their votes in the last presidential election. We spend far too much of our time thinking about this sort of nonsense when far more meaningful topics and endeavors cry out for our attention. |

| Since when in an election can a voter vote multiple times? |

I sincerely doubt there were more voters for AI than there are in the presidential election. These kids get on the phone and vote hundreds of times each. It will be a sad day if that ever comes to be in a true election.
I think that Katharine's father is just a small cog in a big wheel, and doubt he would know David Foster. As for Andrea supporting young talent, well, that's where I just don't agree. I failed to see her talent, but what I witnessed (and I know I'll get knocked for this) is way too much arrogance for a girl her age. Not just on the show, but on the many, many interviews I saw. On one show all she did was whine about how hard the judges had been on her. Simon was interviewed and told that, and he said, "I think if someone came to me and said.....For the next few months we're going to have limousines at your beck and call, provide you private planes, and have people waiting on you hand and for that, all you have to do is put up with a little critism"....I'd think I'd jump at the chance, not complain. Katharine needs a wake-up call." I'm not making this up, I saw the interview. Again...just IMHO she's not worthy to tour with Andrea. She has her supporters, but not enough to even see her through on a talent show. I think more people saw through her than did not. |

IF Andrea DOES sing ONE song with Katherine at ONE of his June concerts, I think it will only be an extension of his appearance on American Idol...and only a one time thing. I don't believe Andrea has completely changed the direction in which he wants his career to go...he's still our Andrea of impecable taste and style.
You are right.....she probably is not WORTHY to sing with Andrea, (she's an "upstart").... but who IS worthy? Except the world renouned "divas" who have proven careers and can hold their own with him. I can only imagine what a thrill it would be to sing with him, but when he's on the stage, I don't even LOOK at anyone else. That's how "smitten" I am.
I was not aware that her father was a TV producer, that would explain their obvious lifelong grooming of her for a life in the theater, as evidenced by the bio clips of her as a child.
I think Katherine is just like most of these "hell bent on success" girls and will do what is necessary to accomplish her goals.....
Others have succeeded with (I think) less "equipment".....so maybe we will see more of her...and maybe she will, like an "old soldier" just fade away.
Time will tell. |

As of this moment (everything being subject to change), it's been confirmed that Katherine will be with Andrea's tour in June. |

That's great news, Melodie! I'm not into AI that much, but Katharine was excellent.I think all of them were very good, but I did like her the best. _________________ Where there's life, there's hope |

I was not criticizing Kathrine willingness to do whatever it takes to accomplish her goals....if she believes in herself and her talent. It takes a lot of spunk to put yourself out there and withstand the slings and arrows of rejection and criticizim and continue to believe in yourself.
If we can admire Andrea (men) for his dedication, strength of character and determination in attaining the realization of a dream, even at the expense of his personal life......why can't we give the same credit to Katherine (women)??? If she happens to be very beautiful also, then that is only a plus, No??? Just between us, I think Andrea knows his handsome appearance is a plus for him....even tho we would love his awesome voice if he were not so "hunky". Aren't we glad he IS??
If you read my post on another Bocelli forum you will see that ....I think Katherine has a beautiful voice and if she will only sing with Andrea at one of the June concerts... I hope it will be the Mansfield concert, cause that's where I will be on June 16th. |

It was funny for me to read this because I have the EXACT opposite hope. IF she will be at any concerts, I am hoping they will be the ones in California which will spare the east coast! I thought Katharine was good on AI one time--the first time she sang "Somewhere Over the Rainbow". The rest of her performances were far too uneven for me to find her qualified to go on tour with ANY seasoned professional, not just Andrea. I think she sounds nice when she sings in a regular tone of voice--not sure how to phrase that correctly. Maybe I'd be better saying I thought she wasn't very good when she got loud or tried to be "spunky". She might be all-around good somewhere down the line but now is not that time--based on what we saw on "Idol", of course. And also, IMHO. |
