Sorry it's taken this long to give a report on the Atlantic City concert, but it was a long night last night and long trip back to PA today.
Breathtaking is the only word besides magnificent, superb and WONDERFUL that I can think of. I'm totally exhausted at this point from travel...or I'm sure I could come up other words to express what Andrea left us all feeling after this wonderful evening.
The Concert was basically the same as other reviews commented on as far as the Program with the exception of one he added which wasn't in the program...."Because we Believe". This set the audience on their feet and after the last song of the program "The Prayer" with Ms. Levesque we had 2 encores.
The experience of hearing Andrea for the first time in concert left me in awe. I knew I'd feel that way....but not to this extent. What a gifted, blessed man and to share this gift with us ....we are in turn blessed.
Now my friend and I begin the "Countdown" until The Lincoln Center Concert in Sept.
The Boston Pops and Maestro Mercurio were magnificent as well. Mr. Ledesma was impressive and I believe we will hear and see much more of him in the future as his career progresses. Ms. Martinez was absolutely brilliant. When Andrea and Ms. Martinez sang "O Soave Fanciulla" from La Boheme they once again had the audience wanting more.
I would have loved to hear Ms. Martinez sing more with Andrea rather than Ms. Levesque. Although Ms. Levesque has a lovely voice ..(my opinion) it just didn't blend well with that of AB.
All in all.....I must say BRAVO and I Thank you to Andrea for making our evening one we shall never forget and now we are in anticipation of our next concert in September. _________________ Tuscanbella |

tuscanbella,
Happy to hear your evening was everything you expected, and more. Your feelings of excitement and deep appreciation is so evident. Isn't it wonderful.
You have Andrea Bocelli to look forward in September. For me, Streisand in October. Enjoy!
Thanks for your report.

Dear Tuscanbella,
Many thanks for taking the time to post a report after all that traveling ! It sounds as though your first Andrea Bocelli concert was truly thrilling. I'm happy to learn that you had such a terrific time. Your first concert is something special to remember!
Many of you have gotten to see Andrea sing this past week, with summer quickly approaching and many of us will get to see him again in September as it draws to a close.
Not a bad way to mark the changing of the seasons !!
Ciao,

My husband and I had the pleasure to see Andrea Bocelli for a 2nd time.
We traveled to Atlantic City from Florida just to see this concert. He was scheduled to be in Ft Lauderdale this year but the concert was cancelled.
One has to rationalize the expense of traveling, the cost of tickets (they are not cheap) to make this trip. It was a no brainer.
Andrea Bocelli is truly a gift to the music industry and the Boston Pops
were phenomenal. I would have liked to have seen some more contemporaty pieces in the first half like the first concert I saw.
Ms Martinez has a lovely voice and I think her pairing with Andrea is very complimentary. I felt Ms Levesque has a fine voice but is not suitable for singing with Mr. Bocelli, his voice is so strong and we think her voice was strained.
I was surprised there was no dialogue with the audience until almost the end of the show when he mentioned the popularity of Amore and that is why he changed his jacket. I was glad to see this interaction but felt it could have been earlier in the program too. I have seen Mr. Bocelli perform before so I am just comparing it to his previous performance.
As far as Amore being so popular, the audience was mesmorized with his performance selections. I like the acoustics at Boardwalk Hall and being accompanied by the Boston Pops-the music sounded better than on the CD and we love the CD.
All in all we enjoyed it and he truly is a gift. |

Andrea keeps giving us more beauty for our hearts. Atlantic City was no exception. I have attended many concerts but I have never heard him sing another song after he sings his signature song "Con Te Partiro" to close the concert. However, on Saturday night, he returned to us once more and sang Nessun Dorma. At the song's conclusion, people thundered to their feet, overwhelmed by the energy and magnitude of Andrea's voice. All we could give to him in return was our applause, clapping, yelling, smiles....our energy. I hope Andrea felt as connected to the audience as we felt to him.
Ana Maria Martinez was svelte and pounds thinner in her figure-hugging red gown. But there was nothing thin about her voice. She and Andrea fit like a hand and a glove...their voices and sweetness a perfect match.
The Pearl Fishers is a favorite of mine and the duet with Luis Ledesma was marvelous. Andrea ran a little ahead of Luis a couple of times but they moved right along with barely a notice. Steven Mercuiro was his usual darling, impish, energetic self...how can you not love him. Ms. Levesque....hummm, I guess the jury is still out on that one.
The arena was teeming with fans who came to hear and enjoy. They left fulfilled. The perfect evening ended too soon but I can hear his music still. |

Buona Sera, Easterrose and Joyce in Virginia,
I've thoroughly enjoyed reading your posts. It's always enjoyable to learn what stood out to others. All that traveling is indeed worth it when you know you'll be hearing Andrea's gift of song! And Joyce... Nessun Dorma....Always a smile with a teardrop for me....

Just to set the record straight regarding Ms. Levesque, allow me to clarify that she is not another American Idol contestant. To learn about her background, please click on link below:

That's right! Andrea stole my heart at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City Saturday night, the very moment he walked out onto the stage ;o) I know I should really write an articulate and interesting report, but honestly, the whole evening was so overwhelming and dreamlike that I think I just kind of floated through it on a soft white cloud. I should have taken notes! From the moment we parked in the parking garage, and walked through Trump Plaza, with the strains of Amore playing over the PA system....and seeing everyone else headed in the same direction of BWH, I knew it was going to be surreal, a magical night. And it was! For my first time seeing Andrea live and in person, it was a dream come true. I half expected my alarm clock to go off at any time and wake up to realize it was all just a dream. I won't go into details already described by fans from previous concerts on this June tour, such as the song list, the guest appearances and Andrea's changing into a white linen jacket shortly after the intermission break. And in the event of boring everyone again with a description of how he looked.....I do have to say that when he first walked out onto the stage on the arm of Steven, he did take my breath away....sharp intake of breath....but then like so many had warned me.....REMEMBER TO BREATHE! But oh my, did he ever look gorgeous! He is SO beautiful.....with that golden Tuscan tan, silvery curly hair, so nice and tall and resplendent in his tux.....DDG and TDF ABsolutely! He seemed relaxed....no tightening of his left hand into a fist, and he had a good rapport with the audience, smiled a lot, seemed in a good mood. I read another concert story from someone who saw him in Mansfield/Tweeter venue the night before, who mentioned that he seemed bothered by his allergies. Whether he had the sniffles or an allergy problem, I did notice that several times he twitched his nose during a song, like a little bunny....and took a few quick swipes at his nose with his hand. He and Ana Maria had wonderful chemistry together with their voices and body language and Kelly Levesque certainly had it all over Katharine with regards to poise and polish AND vocals. It's difficult to say which songs were favorites but I did thoroughly enjoy Mamma and Granada, and of course the AMORE set. First encore was Con Te Partiro/Time to Say Goodbye, with Ana Maria. I was thinking all evening....dare I hope that for an encore he might sing Nessun Dorma??? And he DID! That was just the cherry on top of the sundae for me! In closing, I would say that for this first-time experience for me, Andrea has a lot of stage presence and he had me completely mesmerized....hypnotized. He had me in the palm of his hand the moment he appeared and I was physically unable to take my eyes off him. He has the voice. He has the looks. He has it ALL. And on a further note, my husband also enjoyed the concert. I was a bit concerned about that as he isn't familiar with opera arias and classical music. But he told me truthfully that he thoroughly enjoyed the concert, most simply because Andrea has such a beautiful voice and that it was just so enjoyable being there to hear him sing.

Shirl, to hear Nessun Dorma on your first concert--wonderful! I couldn't believe he came back out after Con te Partiro to sing that most beautiful of arias for us. I'm still smiling about it. Lots of new things for this tour, along with some old favorites. I thoroughly enjoyed it. _________________ "To sing, to sing, to sing......." (Andrea revealing his future plans to Classic fm) |

Miserere, miserere,
Miserere, misero me
Pero brindo alla vita!
Ma che mistero, ela mia vita
Che mistero!
Wretched, wretched
Wretched, wretched me
But I toast life!
What a mystery my life is
What a mystery!
Nessun Dorma?? He has not sung this in a while has he? I can't remember when the last time I heard him sing this live. What a treat for you Shirl!
Whilst I’m delighted that other’s had the pleasure, I’m bummed!
Any planned Bocelli birthday events here in California? Shall we formulate at plan? |

I heard "Nessun Dorma" last April in New Jersey. It was actually on the program and everything. I'd been seeing Andrea in concert yearly since 1999 and it took me 'til 2005 to get to hear it in person. It is indeed lucky to get it on your first time out of the box. But, GOSH, it was so worth the wait!!!!!
Regarding Bocelli birthday events in California--I think it would be super for you west coasters (who won't be in NYC in September) to plan your own event. Why not? What fun! |

| I am still trying to catch my breath. Bravo! Bravo! I treated my sister-in-law to tickets which were floor tickets, 27 rows front seats 3-4 and there was nothing but awe. Each of us have everything produced for Mr. Bocelli and a 1st for a live performance. My husband, her brother left this life December, 2003 and when he sang "Time To Say Goodbye" we both lost it. Everything that comes from Mr. Bocelli's voice is with a spirit of giving to all that are willing to hear. There is not a voice, spirit or passion like his on this planet. We are hoping to attend his concert in Paris if I am able to draw another breath. BRAVO! BRAVO! |
