From what I understand, it is due for release in July of 2006, so we haven't long to wait. If I'm correct, it is dedicated to the memory of Pope John Paul II. The first anniversary of his passing was not too long ago, but I don't know if the DVD's release has any correlation with that. From CD Universe, I've found the following song list, which includes my favorite, "Gloria a Te" ` Inno del Giubileo 2000.

1. Ave Verum Corpus K618 - Mozart
2. Ave Maria - Caccini/Mercurio
3. Sancta Maria - Mascagni, Arr. Mercurio
4. Ave Maria (Arr.From Bach's Prelude No.1.Bwv 846) - Back/Gounod
5. Panis Angelicus - Franck, Orch. Michelot
6. Domine Deus (Petit Messe Solennelle - Gloria) - Rossini
7. Pieta, Signore - Niedermeyer, Arr. Reynolds
8. Gloria a Te Cristo Gesu (the Hymn of the Great Jubilee)
Proteggimi - Orch. Serio/Sartori - F. Sartori/L. Quarantotto
9. Frondi Tenere...Ombra mai fu (Serse/Act 1) - Handel
10. Mille Cherubini in coro - Schubert, Arr. Mercurio
11. Ingemisco (Messa da Reqiuem) - Verdi
12. Ave Maria 'Ellnes Gesang III, D 839 - Schubert, Orch. Weingartner
13. Agnus Dei - Bizet, Arr. Guiraud
14. Cujus Animam Gementem (Stabat Mater) - Rossini
15. I believe - Eric Levi
16. Adeste Fideles (O Come, all ye faithful) - Trad. Arr. Mercurio

I'll hunt around later for a web page regarding this DVD I think I saw a while back. In the meantime

Anna and ArnoneL, Thanks so much for this thread. I wasn't aware of this dvd. I looked it up on Amazon and thought, what a nice birthday gift for my oldest son. The shipping on Amazon was up to 7 weeks, so I bought it from one of their vendors, with a June 22nd shipping date. I hope it works out. I am always kind of nervous buying from someone I don't know but I do trust Amazon.
The dvd sounds beautiful. A wonderful selection of music. My son really loved Pope John Paul II and he enjoyed Andrea last Friday. -----woodsie-----

Dear Woodsie,
It sounds like the perfect gift then! I, too, put in an order for Credo yesterday.
John and I were chaperones for a group of teenagers in both Paris/1997 and Rome/2000 for World Youth Day. John Paul II was an inspirational man. He just loved the young people and they loved him right back. In the Paris Metro, the young pilgrims chanted, "John Paul II, we love you!" In Longchamps Racetrack, more of the same. He spoke to them in many different languages, and each group responded back with great enthusiasm. In Rome, 3 years later, John Paul II looked more tired than he had in past. Indeed, John and I noticed some differences in his energy from our last visit. But, the mind was as sharp as ever, and the youth seemed to love him all the more. It was the last time I would see him. I'd seen him at Central Park, in Paris, and at Rome. Each time he left an impression I shall not soon forget.
My big thrill was standing next to the trash bins...(yes, the trash bins) because I realized that the security people were setting up gates for where the Pope's motorcade would pass. I had the perfect spot, and when others gathered round, I was right there, front and center. Soon The Holy Father drove by and I snapped a great series of pictures. It sounds as though some of the images from this DVD may be from some of the many World Youth Days. If so, my children, husband and I shall enjoy reliving those some of those moments. That would be fine enough, but to know that Andrea shall be singing only adds to the pleasure.
Let's compare notes after viewing it.
Ciao Amica,
Sempre,
Anna

I am looking forward to getting this dvd someday. I was a big fan of Pope John Paul II (Andrea's involvement with the dvd will make it even more special than it already would be on its own). He was friends with a Polish archbishop who was the pastor of a church in my neighborhood. Since they were friends and Chicago has such a large Polish population, John Paul II came to the city for a visit not too long after he became Pope. I was in high school and was a "groupie" for the day--that's what my sisters called me. With the church being in MY neighborhood, they had a motorcade less than 10 blocks from my house, so he could get to the church. I went down the street and had a great spot right on the curb to see him go by. It was really awesome. Then I caught the bus right on the corner. I didn't go to the Polish church but I did go to a seminary down the street. After the mass at the church, he was going to appear at the seminary and then have a tour inside. Went over to join the crowd--all chanting the same "John Paul II we love you!" and "Sto Lat". Where did I go after I saw him at the seminary? Home? Gosh no! bouncy The main event of the day was a mass in Grant Park in the heart of downtown Chicago. Downtown was closed. :) EVERYONE who was down there was down there for one reason and one reason alone. People from all different directions all headed in the same direction. I've never experienced anything quite like it. Something extraordinary was definitely in the air. It was a very special day and he was a very special man. This dvd will be a great keepsake.

Dear Janice,
Thank you for sharing that great memory! How special to think that he passed right by your home, in your neighborhood. I've got chills!
I belong to the Polish parish in my town. "Sto Lat" is heard quite often here as well! The Polish parishoners at my church were so very proud to have their own Karol Wotija elected Pope.
You are so correct: "Something extraordinary" is exactly what one experienced when in his presence.
Mille grazie,
Anna wave

I have tried to post twice about this DVD, but for some reason the posts did not take. I believe this DVD is a PAL system DVD (Europe), So make sure your DVD players can play PAL not just NTSC (USA) NTSC is region 1. If you have a region 0 DVD player it will play it or a region 2 it will play it. BUT, If you DVD player won't play this DVD, Your Computer will, all MS software computers can change between regions (probably Macs too).

I certainly hope that I'll be able to view it! Wouldn't they sell a different version for American release than in Europe?

Anyone in NY who would enjoy seeing a preview of "Credo", may do so at St. Malachy's Church in Manhattan, this coming Monday. July 10th, 2006.
For info, click on the following link:

I'm going to try and make it, so I'll be back with a report.

Thanks Rick!

Hi Rick and Anna, I bought this for my son through Amazon (One of their vendors). It said on the back it is for Region 1. I hope this is o.k. I won't know until this week-end as it is a gift for my son's birthday. I will let you know. I think he will love it. -----woodsie-----

Thanks, Rick, for the valuable info on Credo. I just checked the BN website and they have two versions listed, both say " DVD format" but one says "Canadian Import." There is almost $20 difference in price, the "Import" being the higher of the two. No explanation as to what the difference is. So now I'm even more confused!

I didn't understand the reason for the difference in costs when I shopped for CREDO online, so I ordered a copy for much less than many of the others. It will be interesting to see what I've purchased for the price.

Hi Anna, My son opened his gift of Credo last night and he loved it. It plays on my dvd player. It was made for region 1.
I bought mine on Amazon on one of their new and used lists. It was much less than Amazon's price of $40.and something and shipped right away.
I paid $23.50 for it and it was a new and unopened one.
I think it is the same version as Amazon's. It seems to be complete.
It was so nice to see Andrea singing for the Pope. He DID look nervous.
It is a very nice dvd. I think you will enjoy yours.
Funny thing, my son had plans to buy it for me, but at the time it was only available in Europe.
