Here's the news we've all been waiting for..............Rosie, this one's for you, Cara!

Bocelli to sing in 'Theater of Silence'
FLORENCE, Italy, June 13 (UPI) -- Andrea Bocelli finally will realize his dream of hosting a concert of classic opera when he performs next month in his home town of Lajatico, Italy.

Bocelli, one of Italy's most popular stars, will perform opera with support from an entire symphony orchestra and chorus at a venue named the "Theater of Silence," ANSA reports.

The venue's name was created by its architects based on the concept that after the completion of the concert only the sounds of nature would remain in the area.

ANSA reports that while Bocelli will be the only performer at the July 27 concert, he has talked about plans to expand the event in years to come to include performances from numerous international stars.

"Once a year we will host a concert of beautiful music. I hope to bring people from all over the world to perform some of the greatest and immortal opera arias, especially Italian, along with classic Italian songs," Bocelli said.

Bocelli to host opera 'Woodstock'
Tuscan hills backdrop to classical music extravaganza
(ANSA) - Rome, June 13 - Classically trained singer Andrea Bocelli's dream of hosting a 'Woodstock' dedicated to opera and popular Italian songs will take shape next month with a concert in his home town of Lajatico, in Tuscany .

The July 27 event, which will see the opera-crossover tenor backed by a full symphony orchestra and chorus, will be staged in an amphitheatre which has as its backdrop the medieval city of Volterra and the Alta Caldera park .

The architects who designed the venue, who included Bocelli's brother, have named it the 'Theatre of Silence' because for the rest of the year only nature's silence will reign .

Bocelli will be the only performer in this first edition of the open air festival, but from next year he intends to invite a slew of international classical music stars to join him .

Speaking after his triumphant concert at Los Angeles' Hollywood Bowl this past weekend, Bocelli made a point of differentiating between his initiative and the 'Pavarotti & Friends' concerts hosted by famed tenor Luciano Pavarotti .

"Once a year we will host a concert of beautiful music. I hope to bring people from all over the world to perform some of the greatest and immortal opera arias, especially Italian, along with classic Italian songs," Bocelli explained .

Pavarotti & Friends, on the other hand, saw the tenor invite leading international entertainers to duet with him on both classical and pop songs .

It was a charity event and in its ten-year run the star-studded concert raised more than 10.5 million euros to help finance aid programs around the world and to build schools and hospitals .

The concert has not been staged since May 2003 because of the difficulties organizers had that year with the Italian state broadcaster RAI over its live broadcast .

The Hollywood Bowl concert, attended by over 18,000 fans, provided a preview to the Tuscan event with Bocelli performing a full range of opera and evergreen tunes as well as several classic Italian hits including 'Funiculi Funicola' .

Bocelli, 47, is probably Italy's most bankable music star after pop princess Laura Pausini, who recently became the first Italian woman to win a Grammy. After blasting to international fame in the mid-1990s with his signature number Con Te Partiro' (Time to Say Goodbye), Bocelli performed at the Vatican, the White House, the Kennedy Center and a host of world music shrines. He completed a second triumphant American tour in 2002 and picked up two World Music Awards. Since then he has performed at the NBA's 2006 All-Star Weekend in Houston and at the closing ceremony of the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin .

My dearest Anna.
Thank you soooooooo very, very much for this wonderful news.
The "Theater of Silence" sounds just beautiful. What a great name.
I guess it will be sort of like an Ampitheater out side. bouncy

It's going to be a surprize for all of us,what Andrea's next Cd will contain.
I sure hope it is a Classical CD.

Wow,Andrea, will most likely invite alot of wonderful musicians that we know, and i am hoping one of the groups will be Il Divo,&/or the Moody blues,Phil Collins,Billy Joel,I could just go on and on.
"How exciting this is for our Andrea."

Thank you again Anna.
Big hug's to you.

Dear Claire,
Wouldn't it be something to hop on a plane to take part in such a gathering? I shall not be among those fortunate ones, but the entire concept is very intriguing!
Yes, it will be fun to learn which Artists Andrea will choose to invite.
Hugs right back at you, Cara Clara!

Only the magic of the Prince could conceive of this and what a passionate way to express to the world the sacredness of a God given gift...THE VOICE...I'm reminded of the song,"The hills are alive with the sound of music" and especially his book, "The Music of Silence". I am thinking I would love to be there..so you know how that goes, just keep the wish polished with love..

Thank you, sweet Anna, for posting this...

Big love
M

Anna dearest...First of all I want you to know that I've started my report, this I want to do..as of this moment the experience of Andrea's presence and his voice, that was SO full of passion, was almost more then I could endure and towered above the other concerts I have seen. He was happy and he was pleased.
When I came home,I really didn't, because I was still there...Now, how IN THE WORLD could I leave and this is why I've been slow getting my report finished..
I also want to thank you for the SURPERB picture of The THEATER OF SILENCE....how very, very intriging..wonder if he will invite us..HAHA..BUT THEN, NEVER SAY NEVER...
BIG LOVE
EM

Anna dear...I"ve been meaning to ask you about the landscape, this area and the intrigue of an ancient civilization really, really, captivates me..big time.Do you suppose that area to the right (background)on a hill, is the mysterious village of Volterra...There do seem to be some structures on the top..I've always had a flaming passion for arch.......,I can't even begin to spell that, but you know what I mean. OH dear, how I wish I could go there and see for myself..Do you suppose there are still descendents from that age still living there..I'll bet Andrea would know...
big love

I have a question of the day. Did anyone from any of the sites in America go to Italy for the Silenzio concert? I have read a couple of post from outside the U.S. which said it was wonderful, but have not seen a comment on what Andrea sang...

Hello Marilyn,
I know of a few people who did attend, and I'm hoping that they will post their impressions in the space provided under Concert Reviews and Reports. It must have been a wonderful evening, don't you think?
Be well,
Anna

Cara Em,
Forgive me for taking so long to resond. Life here has been so very busy!
I've been to breathtaking Assisi, but I haven't had the pleasure of seeing Andrea's part of Tuscany, though I am hoping to remedy that situation next summer should I travel to see family a Sicilia e Trento. Yet, I agree wholeheartedly. The landscape is something glorious to behold is it not? Personally, I find the hills, with their rolling horizontal flow so very peaceful, filling me with a sense of calm. Punctuated by Italian Cypress trees that seem to stand guard over the countryside, the region appears magical, like something out of a fairy tale. It's easy to see how we wish we could live within such natural beauty!
Baci Amica,
Anna
