Any of you who have already found a hotel, will you please post that information for people who are still looking? Also, if you have room for one more, please let me know, as there are people who are travelling alone and would like "floor space" :) if you can accomodate them.

Good site: www.hotels.com

I am going to be comeing alone too.I have a room at the Comfort Inn at 31 west 71st. Street . For Friday the 18 th.and Saterday the 19th..If anyone needs to we can doulble up .I have all ready payed for the room online so . I know I have my room already .I am right by the park. It's with in spitten distance from my hotel. So I can scope out some space for us .But it would be even better if I have help.Because this will be the first time. I have ever been to New York. Also anyone trying to get a room I would see if they have any rooms left. This was the cheapest place I could find .Near as I could to Central Park.I didn't want to get lost in New York City trying to get to the Park.It is also close to the Hard Rock Cafe.So let me know.

hi eva,
i would love to take you up on your offer. it would be great. first i have to make arrangements to get off work on the 18th, and check train schedules or find a traveling companion, etc.
i saw you are coming from va. are you taking amtrak or a bus or driving?
any advice you have to help me get to ny would be welcome. i guess i'm apprehensive since i've never been there before.
where is your other roommate coming from?
thanks again, jeanne

Hi Jeanne! :D This is Eva's other roommate, Janice from Chicago. I'm getting to NYC by plane, arriving early Friday afternoon (the 18th). It's going to be a great weekend! I was in NYC for a few days way back in 1989. I'm looking forward to going back as I understand it is verrrrrry different now. In a good way! :) We will have a GREAT time! :D

Jeanie,I will be going on the bus.At least for right now thats what I think is going to happen. But you never know.We can play it by ear.I all ready have my room booked. So when we all get there .We can make whatever arrangements we have to.It isn't like they have never had more people show up than was booked for before.Just think about New Years Eve.You know they have .If you want to go the cheapest way .Go by bus.It is only costing me $89.00 round trip.It might be even cheaper for you .Because your a little closer.Hi! Janice we will have a great time all together.Talk to you later.Doneva

hi doneva and janice.
boy, you two seem to have it under control. i was on line 3 hours last night trying to find the best travel. still confused.
train is 1 hr. 15 min. cost $125
bus is almost 3 hrs, cost $42.
i was surprised that the greyhound website warned that the bus stations are not always in the best neighborhoods and beware.
then there is the problem of getting a ride to the train station so i don't have to leave my car there. i actually live 20 min. south of philly in NJ. and how to get to the hotel from penn sta. in nyc?
i tried several websites for maps but they weren't too clear.
the one on the comfort inn site was the best but it didn't show where penn sta. was in relation to the hotel.
oh well, i will have to work out a lot of details.
get back to you soon
jeanne

Jeanne, if you are arriving at Penn Station, just take the express subway #2 going Uptown right there. Look for the signs. The #2 stops on Times Square (42nd St.) and from there directly to 72nd St. (and Broadway). When you get off the subway stay on 72nd Street and walk towards Columbus Avenue. One block down and the Comfort Inn is on 71st Street, between Columbus Avenue and Central Park West. You won't get lost, I promise. You can always ask. New Yorkers like to help, contrary to what out-of-towners may think :)

The #'s 1 and 3 are the locals and, of course, they make more stops: from Penn Station, Times Square, then 50th Street, then Columbus Circle, then 66th Street and then 72nd Street. You don't want to make so many stops, I am sure

hi nellie,
thanks so much for the info. it's better than anything i found on line. it sounds easy with your step by step. i'm beginning to think i can really do this. traveling alone is a bit scary.
i thought at first it seemed impossible so i decided if i was meant to go god would show me how . so far doneva, janice and you have given me advice and encouragement so that now it seems easy.
my kids are also saying go for it.
doneva, i'll remember the skin so soft and talk to you again soon.
thanks again.

Yes GO FOR IT Jeanne!! I'm a botn in NYC and raised there and I LOVE NEW YORK. It's a great city and don't let anybody scare you into not coming.
New Yorkers are basically very nice people and it's a great city to see alot of good sights besides Bocelli. Sue

Hello,

I also am planning on going alone and need to find a hotel and friends to site see with. I was born there but moved at age 4 so have no idea how to get around. If anyone wants to double up in a room let me know. I am concerned about Andrea not being there. Is that really true?? I am coming from Western New York by plane and while there want to go to the Hard Rock Cafe and am anxious to meet Steve Mercurio. I also wanted to see Ellis Island and the UN and other attractions if anyone else is interested. Please say someone is just joking that Andrea will not be there..

Thanks for the information. Sounds good. I have not made up my mind yet. I really like Steven and want to meet him and really want to meet all of the fans so I will think about it.
