This is a wonderful love story. A Venetian banker spots author and chef Marlena de Blasi on the streets of Venice and is instantly smitten. They fall fast----next thing you know she's selling her house and possessions and moving to Venice to marry the man she calls "the stranger". He speaks no English and the only Italian she knows at first is cooking terms. She must learn not only the language but the Venetian pace of life, and also how to live with this man she so adores. What makes this story so rich is the fact that these aren't kids; they're both in mid-life: she divorced with two grown children, and he having never married. To quote the inside cover:"In the end, Marlena shows Fernando how to let go and live well. And he shows her that tenderness really does exist." A very romantic, sweet and funny story. And by the way, if this sounds like a plot for a romance novel, it's not. This story is true. Enjoy. _________________ "To sing, to sing, to sing......."
